Trying to get Netflix app to work on daughters ipad while using restrictions. However, when websites are limited to defined URL Netflix app dosen't work. Does anyone know what urls need to be defined to allow the netflix app to function with web restrictions switched on. Thanks !
I Found another posting via Google and I followed the steps and it worked. I am very thankful it did as I didn't want to disable tue website restrictions, I prefer them on so this was the answer to fix the netflix issue and allow the website restrictions to still be enabled:
I have the same issue. Tried all kinds of variations of the netflix urls (movies.netflix.com, signup.netflix.com, , etc....) couldn't get it working right... Did a mess of google searching and this thread is the only one I could find that addressed my exact issue. Called netflix and Apple. Apple was able to get it working (sort of, or temporarily....) They had me uninstall the app, then go under Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings (make sure you know your network password for your wi-fi router before you do this, because you will need to reconnect to wi-fi because the password will get wiped out of the system memory) Supposedly, this will not remove any data, just reset to factory settings. After that was done, they had me shut down the iPad, then restart the iPad. Then reconnect to wi-fi and re-set all of the Restrictions settings I had set up originally. I left in five variations of the netflix urls because when I tried these steps with just one url it wouldn't work. I tried some testing, but couldn't figure which ones were needed so I left all five in the allowed websites section under restrictions. (movies.netflix.com, signup.netflix.com, , , ). Then I re-installed the netflix app and viola! it worked! I did a shutdown and restart of the iPad while I had the apple technician on the phone to make sure the app would still work after a restart and it did! Awesome.... but, after playing with the iPad some, the app would not work again! UGGGGGGGHHHHHH! I don't think I did anything specific to cause it to stop working and repeated the procedure at least 4 times with the same result, so I'm not sure what the problem is and I don't have days to spen on this.... So, I then did a bunch more testing and here's something that seems to work all the time, although it's a bit of a pain in the arse... When the netflix app is not working, go under Settings -> General -> Restrictions -> Websites and set the "Allowed Websites" to All Websites. Then close out of settings and launch the netflix app. (give it a couple of minutes to get past the red screen with spinning wheel if it doesn't open right away). Now, once the netflix app has been launched, go back and set the "Allowed Websites" back to Specific Websites Only and the netflix app will work at least until the next reboot of the iPad... The only problem with this is that you will lose your list of Specific Websites everytime you do this... For me it's not a huge problem, because my son is only 7 and doesn't really "Surf" the web, so I don't really have to add websites all the time. Hope I helped some Stecun... Hopefully netflix and apple will take steps to make this work better in a future update.... If anyone out there has a more permanent solution, it would be greatly appreciated! Where's all the computer science moms and dads at out there? ?
I was able to find 18 URLs that the web version of netflix uses and I added them, but it didn't help. I talked to Netflix support and they said they passed it on to their research team. I tried to get a work around or the list of URLs, but they didn't give them up.
Adding my complaint to the original. I'm having the same issue. Temp work-around (you don't have to disable the Restrictions), just change the website restrictions from 'Specific Websites Only' to 'All Websites', go launch Netflix, then change restrictions BACK to 'Specific Websites Only'. :/ Pain in the rear, but it will work until... maybe the next day. We really need to know what it is netflix is throwing at us to allow us to add a URL that will work every time. Ugh.
I also noticed, if you turn off website restrictions and launch Netflix, that the restrictions of movie and TV show ratings in the settings app have no affect on what you can see in Netflix. Disappointing.
Hi guys. The Microsoft Edge is my favorite browser of all times, really, but not when I try to watch netflix or other video streaming services, it always breaks, I have no ideia what to do anymore. Always when I try to play something there's an error and then I need to reload over and over again, sometimes even when I just play the video it stop working when I try to play again. Help me to keep using this best browser that I've ever seen.
I've ever tried to disable hardware acceleration, enable DRM content, install Microsoft Silverlight and a lot of other things, but I didn't get to watch so far without an error I keep receiving these error codes: D7356-7701 and others related. Is there's still something that can be done to really fix theses erros or I just have to be patient and wait for news versions of the browser?
Netflix just won't work with the new Orbi. We're getting an error message stating that it looks like we're using an unblocker or VPN...we're not. The guy at Netflix told my wife that, in effect, Netflix doesn't work with Orbi because of the way devices switch between one unit and the other to get the best signal, or something like that. I switched back to our older Netgear router and everything's perfect.
We had the Orbi hard wired into an Arris cable modem from our ISP. All the devices (Sony smart TV, 2 PC laptops, Chromebook, 3iPhones on wifi. Great signal and functionality with everything but Netflix. Took the Orbi off and put our Netgear Nighthawk (R7000) back in and Netflix was immeditely great.
Could also be that the switch to Orbi prompted a DHCP address change from the ISP, and the one the OP got just so happened to previously be assigned to someone who was known to run a relay like Tor. If that's the case, it'll expire on its own...eventually.
I think they're going to have to come up with a better excuse than this. If Orbi had this problem, then all the other distributed/mesh systems out there should also be "incompatable" with Netflix. This is not the case, though. Whether or not you are jumping from satellite to satellite would be completely transparent to Netflix.
As a test, I just started a Netflix stream on my laptop and then started moving around the house. I verifiably saw my laptop jump from one Orbi satellite to another, and Netflix never missed a beat. So, gotta call b.s. on their claim that "Netflix doesn't work with Orbi".
Occasionally on my TV's built in app netflix hiccups - I think this is more a netflix issue. Try signing out of the app and back in. No problems on iPads, chromecasts, and netflix all sorts of different places and locations. Perhaps try a different wifi channel if you're in a congested wifi neighborhood. Try channel 1 or 11.
Glad you got it working. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Enjoy.
I've just baught my HP laptop a few days ago for everyday use and I've downloaded the Netflix app but it wont work at all and just keeps buffering, I've updated the laptop and it still wont work, it also wont connect to my tv with a HDMI without crashing, please help
Hello, I just bought a Chromecast 4, installed it, went through the whole process, I want to turn on Netflix, I only enter the netflix main menu, when I start any movie or series, I get an error TVq-000. And I can't watch any movies
I am also having this issue since the OS12 update. I have to restart the device to be able to watch Netflix. It works after a restart but everytime I turn my tv on, I need to restart chromecast. Wondering if its perhaps a bug in the new OS?
Hey there Bambusta,
I'm sorry to hear that Netflix is having some issues on your Chromecast with Google TV. I'd be happy to help out where I can! Here is the Netflix article for the tvq-000 error, as this is a Netflix specific error. Go ahead and try the troubleshooting listed in the article, and see if it helps. In the meantime, see if casting Netflix from another device, such as a phone or tablet, works for you. Netflix may need to update their app for the newest Android 12 update.
so yes
i tried everything recommended in this article and netflix doesn't work anyway. I turned on netflix on my phone, tablet and computer and everything is fine, but I think sometimes my subscription will not be a problem? 2 years ago, when I bought a subscription, there were options how many devices can it support and my subscription could only support the phone or tablet / computer, not a TV set, maybe it's a problem that I will try to turn it on on the TV?
In this case, I would clear out Netflix's cached app data and try it again. If the problem persists, go ahead and uninstall and reinstall the application. Finally, with it being a Netflix specific error, I would reach out to Netflix Support to see if they are aware of any issues with the app on the new Chromecast update.
I've been using XG for a few weeks now and everything is reasonably fine tuned to support my usage. Whenever I run into a site blocked by my rules, I create an FQDN host definition for that site, add it to a "Trusted Sites" FQDN Group, and all is well. My wife even has a set of instructions I made for her to follow this process and open up the occasional blocked site she runs into.
1.) Streaming bypass - If any LAN client on the A/V VLAN is accessing a "Trusted Site" or a site in the USA, allow it, and do not do any HTTP/HTTPS malware scanning or apply any web filter policy. This is how our streaming devices are able to use Netflix, Hulu, etc. Eventually I might cut down the rule to only allow a list of "streaming sites" instead of leaving it so open...
