how to post the raw request to Loki to retrieve the location ? is it
possible not to use the Javascript to invoke Loki API, but invoke it
through Windows APP, or even send raw request through an ActiveX or
Flash? Does anyone have any sample code?

Can you elaborate a little more on what you are trying to accomplish?
What do you mean raw request?

We also offer a lower-level SDK that is meant to be built into other
projects. Essentially Loki is built on top of the SDK. http://www.skyhookwireless.com/developers
for more information and code samples.

Let me know if thats not what you are looking for though.

I think the fundamental of the SDK is to retrieve the wireless signal
and send it to skyhook server to return the position information, all
we want is to communicate with skyhook server through flash, is it
possible to do it without using the current SDK, but rather build our
own code in flash to retrieve the location directly from skyhook
server?

The Loki js is easy to use, but lots of corporations disable some js
calling inside their network, also, always showing a pop up to user
for using Loki seems a bit annoying, if we could build that into
flash, we can avoid such popup, can't we?

Thanks,

Michael

Michael,

The problem with Flash is that it doesn't expose information about the
wireless adapter to allow us to do Wi-Fi Positioning like we can on
other platforms. So at this point we can't natively support Flash.

Alternatively we have done some Loki to Flash bridging using the JS
bridge in flash. See this post: http://www.timwalling.com/2009/04/06/using-loki-from-flash/

And lastly the user can elect to whitelist your domain in the prompt
so they don't have to see it every time. You also can choose to only
call it at the beginning of a session and persist that information
throughout the session instead of requesting through Loki again.

Let me know if you have more questions. Best, Ryan

Thanks for your quick response. Based on the API notes, it only
retrieve location information based on the Wi-Fi signal, does it also
support getting the location from GPS/cellular radio signal in case Wi-
Fi is not available? based on the Skyhook's hybrid positoning system
(XPS) web page (http://www.skyhookwireless.com/howitworks/) it does,
but is it supported in your SDK?
