I am very happy to share a recent success story of Loksatta Party. We should all be proud of fighting relentlessly to make our cities safer.
Ever since Dilshuknagar bomb blasts and Abhaya incidents, Loksatta Party has been demanding that a minimum of 3000 CCTVs must be installed in key locations across city, to make the city safer from criminals and act as a deterrent against acts of violence.
Representations were given to the CM, Police Commissioners, DGP and promises were made of quick action. Many RTIs were filed to track progress and a public awareness campaign was run for many months that generated more than 14,000 missed calls and voice of public finally reached the powers to be.
3000 CCTVs will be installed in Hyderabad before next March as formally announced by Police Commissioner to media this week. (link)
Congratulations to Dosapaty Ramu, President Loksatta Party Hyderabad (GHMC) and his entire team for yet another successful intervention in the city.
Yet again, Loksatta proves that PEOPLE POWER wins, - it can make change happen at national level via reform AND at a local level with citizen participation.
