Firefox users, today's your lucky day. I think I've heard people ask for a browser popup extension before... So I made one. It's called Lojban Popup:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/lojban-popup/

(Just published, so it's not in the search results yet.)

It's based on the code for Mandarin Popup, my favorite popup add-on for Firefox, and has more or less the same functionality. When you hover over text, it pulls up possible matches from a JSON-ized local copy of jbovlaste. It ignores spaces, dots, commas, and punctuation in order to maximize useful matches (ignoring spaces isn't ideal, but better to catch extras than to miss something).

The popups match on words (gismu, cmavo, cmene, lujvo, fu'ivla, etc.) or rafsi.

You can right click and bring up a dictionary browser by which you can search the local dictionary by word, rafsi, or selma'o (search in all caps to match selma'o; otherwise, the search is case-insensitive).

The local dictionary is up to date as of May 24, 2012. My main concern in terms of upkeep (other than serious bug fixes) is updating the dictionary file, since I had to do a lot of tweaking to set it up. (In other words, grumble grumble don't ask for frequent updates :)

Take it for a spin, let me know if there are serious problems, and TRY not to become overdependent and get tunnel vision :)

Why use a local dictionary instead of linking to jbovlaste, may I ask?

vruxir, you're my hero. Well done. I'm always excited about Lojban

I'm going to disagree with that. The thing was matching on  /everything/. And I mean, literally, everything. It didn't matter what the mouse was over, it popped something up.

It was way too annoying. I had to remove it.

Maybe if there were at least a delay before it popped it wouldn't be so annoying, but as it is now, there is no delay.
