Guess who. I'm uncertain about the picture's copyright status, though.

While I agree that you can't draw se jetnu, you certainly can explain
place structures of lots of gismu. I wouldn't discourage people of
adding those other places.

Sure, any gismu place that can be explained with a picture is fine. Oh,

Go ahead, there is plenty of choice here. Just make sure the image is
not encumbered by copyright. Taking a photo yourself should be fine.

Let's concentrate on those with a narrow depicturable meaning
first. The aim is not to cover the entire gismu list. In some cases,
it may be appropriate to choose a stereotypical example for a broader
meaning, such as an image of a finger for ``degji'' (which can also
mean ``toe'' or even ``peninsula'').

No, let's keep it simple. This is similar to the case of ``cadri''
mentioned on the Talk page. It would be best to show a TV set and use
``ve tivni'' as the caption.

A picture wordlist simply cannot aim to explain place structures. The
hypothetical Martian learning Lojban on Wikipedia will still have to
study the corpus of Lojban literature to figure out how the gismu are
used in practice.

Great. There is no gismu for gletu, though.

What about gismu that have broad definitions? What about usage examples?

coirodo,

I started an alphabetic list of gismu with pictures, on the Lojban
Wikipedia.

<http://jbo.wikipedia.org/wiki/pixra_liste_loi_gismu>

IMHO this is a useful tool for Lojban beginners, and should be
accessible to speakers of any language, to children, and to those who
want to have a quick look at "some Lojban".

Obviously not every gismu can be depicted, much less every place of
every gismu. Generally, pictures show the first place of a gismu, as
in an observative bridi. Exceptionally, pictures may show a different
place, if marked by a cmavo of selma'o SE.

You can help in several ways with this list:

* Add another picturable gismu (you can let others find a picture
for it)

* Find a picture for a gismu (have a look on Wikimedia Commons
<http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/>)

* Change or remove misleading pictures

Comments are appreciated, either on this list or on the talk page
