This is yet another call for people to speak up if they are planning to
come to the 25th anniversary Logfest at my house in Fairfax VA this
coming weekend. We need to plan for food, and sleeping arrangements for
those coming from out-of-town.
We have around a dozen confirmed attendees and several other "maybes".
All four of the official "Founders" of Lojban will be there, as well as
Robin Powell, our illustrious byfy jatna, author, and corporate officer.
Many will be arriving on Friday, which will be purely social; whatever
"official" activities will take place on Saturday, or possibly Sunday,
but mostly people just do what they wish, with informal discussion in or
about Lojban. Activity tends to run into the wee hours of the morning,
with people rising late.
Most non-locals are sleeping at my house, though at least one person is
getting a hotel room. There are a couple hotels within 3-4 miles in
Fairfax and several between 5 and 10 miles away at Tysons and Fair Oaks.
Doubling up on beds, we have mattress/futon space for 7 and additional
floor space with a couple of sleeping bags.
We are planning for a hot meal on Saturday evening and platters of
fruit/cold cuts/veggies for the two lunches, and light fare for
breakfast. LLG is paying for this, but we welcome donations to offset
the costs of the LogFest.
transportation
The address is
2904 Beau Lane
Fairfax VA 20031
on a map, this is at the crossroad where Suteki runs into Beau Lane
(directly opposite my house)

Of the three airports serving Washington DC, Dulles and National are
closest to here, about equally far (~15 miles). National allows one to
use the Metro system without renting a car. Dulles has a connector bus
to Metro, but it is not cheap. Taxi would likely run over $30, but I
don't know the exact rates.
Trains arrive at Union Station, and buses arrive a couple of blocks from
Union Station. One can board Metro at Union station on the "Red Line"
towards Shady Grove, transferring to the Orange Line at "Metro Center"
which you then take to the western end of the line at "Vienna" Station.
We are a quarter mile from the station (only 1 block after leaving the
parking lot). Most people walk, but possibly someone can pick you up at
the station if you call. Walking, exit to Nutley St on the South side,
cross Nutley. Go one short block to the right to Hermosa, turn left for
another short block to Beau Lane. Turn left and we are the first
non-corner house.
For those coming by car, we are one exit west of the Capital Beltway
(I495) on I66. The beltway is a circle around DC, and treating that
circle like a clock face I66 is located at about 9 o'clock. From the
North or South, take 495 to I66 West. Go one exit (2 miles) to Nutley
Street. Take the cloverleaf going SOUTH on Nutley, and you are 2 blocks
from my house. Immediately get in the left lane, and after one light
turn left at the second light which is Hermosa Drive. There will be
office buildings on your right. (If you go 100 yards too far, you will
hit a major crossroads at Lee Highway, and there is a large shopping
center.) On Hermosa, go up the short rise and one block to a T-junction
into Beau Lane. Turn left, and mine is the first non-corner house on
the left, opposite Suteki Drive.
