The need to roll out ELC at more schools and publish a timeline for the remaining schools
The need for enriched English and Science middle school courses for students who were not selected for the magnets
Support for GEC's requests that MCPS publish course placement, lottery selection, curriculum and training data and information
Support for creation of minimum standards and curriculum guidelines for all enriched and accelerated instruction in all schools
The agenda doesn't have anything related to these matters, but the recent reorganization makes it even more important that the Board and Dr. McKnight hear these concerns from the community.

ALERT: Due to MCPS leadership changes this month, our talks regarding local middle school enrichment and acceleration, especially Science, have stalled. This is a disappointing setback. We are asking the community to speak up to make sure MCPS understands that creating accelerated and enriched English and Science in middle school still should go forward, regardless of personnel changes. Right now, MCPS has no teacher training or enrichment extensions for middle school English and Science. I wish I could sugarcoat that, but we need parent support. We have spent the last two years asking for this, and our predecessors spent many years before that also advocating. We have outstanding MPIA requests and have filed a Policy KLA complaint (we will be sending an alert out soon). But we need MCPS to hear from the community. Especially if you have not yet emailed MCPS, we are asking you to do so now.
Here's how you can ask MCPS to please create and implement accelerated and enriched middle Science and English curricula and express your support for the GEC's requests. Ask them not to delay in creating these courses for middle school and ask the Board to hold them accountable.

Below (#3) is a template complaint. Feel free to borrow facts and language for your testimony.
3. Consider filing a Policy KLA Complaint from the Public. You won't be alone - the GEC also has filed one (an alert is forthcoming). You will receive a response within ten days. Linked below is a sample template you can use.
