Dear Reader,

This week we celebrate International Women's Day and the
People's Weekly World has two interesting stories
exploring
different angles of women's oppression and history.

Carolyn Trowbridge writes about International Women's Day
today and yesterday: how far women have come and the need to
go further. It's available in English (Read entire article
at: http: / /pww.org/article/view/10685) and Spanish
( http: / /pww.org/article/articleview/10707/1/362 ).

Tokombu Bodunde writes on "The female experience of racism?"
and by placing the question that way gives a different emphasis to
both racism and women's oppression (Read entire
article at: http://pww.org/article/view/10698).

As George Bush travels through South and Central
America
trying to convince people he's all about eliminating poverty, this
week's paper has two article about the violence and poverty faced by
the Colombian people. These
reports will provide stark contrast to what the White House
spin is on what is going on in Colombia.

"On a mission for justice: School of the Americas
Watch
travels to Colombia and Panama" by Lisa Sullivan (Read entire article
at: http://pww.org/article/view/10693).
"Carlos Lozano's life is in danger, thanks to the
repressive
government of Colombian president Alvaro Uribe."
( http: / /pww.org/article/articleview/10687/1/362 ).

All this in addition to coverage of the ongoing crisis at
Walter Reed and veterans' medical care: "Privateers profit
on GIs' misery" by Tim Wheeler reporting from DC (Read entire article
at: http://pww.org/article/view/10675),
En
español "Hospital reduce servicios al privatizar" ( http: / /
pww.org/article/view/10711 ).
"Labor moves to offense" by Roberta Wood reporting from the
AFL-CIO Executive Council meeting in Las Vegas (Read entire
article at: http: / /pww.org/article/view/10676 );
immigrant rights struggle update: "Immigrant rights struggle
continues, in and out of Congress" by Emile Schepers (Read
entire article at: http://pww.org/article/view/10679);
and an analysis of the draft Iraq oil law: "Who will control
Iraq's oil? Draft law would open door for
multinationals to
move in" by Susan Webb (Read entire article at:
http://pww.org/article/view/10678)

The PWW's stories are tools for you to use in your work on
peace, democracy and struggles for social progress. Please
feel free to repost with credit to the People's Weekly World/

Yours in peace and struggle,
