Americans across the country are more concerned than ever about our
direction in Iraq. Now is the time for Congress to force a change.
On March 19th, thousands of us from organizations across the movement
will gather together to observe the fourth anniversary of the war
through candlelight vigils. We'll solemnly honor the sacrifice made by
more than 3,000 soldiers and contemplate the path ahead of us. We
cannot send tens of thousands of exhausted and under-equipped and
unprepared soldiers into the middle of an Iraqi civil war.
Join us at a candlelight vigil on Monday, March 19th. Honor the
sacrifice. Stop the escalation. Bring the troops home.

Peace Action (CFPA) is planning a Rally on the State House Steps in
Trenton, NJ from 12 noon to 1 PM on Monday, March 19, the fourth
anniversary of the US attack that began the Iraq War. Car-pooling
from Princeton to this event will leave the Princeton Shopping Center
(Eckerd Drug end) at 11:15 AM. Co-sponsors of the Rally include NJ
Citizen Action, Americans Against Escalation, and Peoples?
Organization for Progress. Confirmed speakers to date include:

Lawrence Hamm, Chair of the Peoples? Organization for Progress
· Bruce Tonari, a disabled combat veteran of the Vietnam War
· Phyllis Salowe-Kaye, Executive Director of NJ Citizen Action

The Rally will mourn the human cost of war, call for the troops to
come home, and support funding an Iraqi-led reconstruction of the war-
torn country. The 3,200 US soldiers that have been killed in Iraq
to date are more than in the first four years of the Vietnam War. In
addition, an estimated 50,000 U.S. servicepersons have been seriously
injured in Iraq. Estimates of Iraqi casualties vary, but a recent
Johns Hopkins study published in The Lancet put the figure as high as
650,000 Iraqis killed. ?This event is will mourn the terrible cost
that continues to be paid by the continuing war and occupation in
Iraq. Not one more U.S. solider should be sacrificed in Iraq, and not
one more dollar should be spent sustaining war and occupation.
Instead of adding more troops to Iraq, the U.S. should focus on
diplomatic and political initiatives and Iraqi-led reconstruction of
their country,? said the Rev. Robert Moore, CFPA?s Executive
