Ok, it looks like Alternative C wins. I've now posted a version that
implements this version, along with other changes. The full list:

Feature: The Combinational Analysis module supports apostrophes (as in
"x'" for NOT x).

Feature: For the I/O Library's LED Matrix, the Input Format attribute
can be changed after the matrix is added into the circuit.

Bug fix: Repaired so that the documented "-clearprops" command-line
option actually works. (It was programmed to accept "-clearprefs" but
it was described as "-clearprops" in the "-help" text and in the
documentation.)

Design change: The Combinational Analysis module's expression pane
uses a larger font size than previously.

(Design change: Switched away from trapezoids for the new splitter appearance.)

(Bug fix: If a wire is in the selection with another component,
changing a value in the attribute pane would lead the program to
freeze.)

(Bug fix: In changing component attributes affecting pin widths, the
simulation would sometimes crash. This is now more rare.)

Cruz, the Portuguese translation in this version doesn't quite work
due to the issue we talked about with the *.properties files being in
the UTF-8 encading. You can see how it looks here.

GUI draws Trapezoid icon for splitter, and documentation draws Legacy
icon for splitter, so neither show modern splitter appearance.

While changing splitter appearance, (for example right-handed to
left-handed) combined end keeps its position and split ends change
their positions. I think opposite behavior is more expected by users.

I have attached small video to demonstrate the bug related to
splitter. There are two reasons why I preferred video: 1) it needs
more time to explain by text; 2) this bug appears randomly (50/50 I
believe), so I proof it exists. The point of the bug: after split
end's bit width changed, "Incompatible width" message should appear (2
bit vs 1 bit split ends), but it doesn't. When I return split end's
bit width to 1 and everything is OK, that message appears for some
reason. This bug doesn't appear with Legacy Appearance, only with
three new ones.

Ilia.
