Question: Mac OS 27 and Logic Pro

Hello,

has anyone installed Mac OS 27 and tested with Logic Pro? I'm still on Sequoia and have no experience with Tahoe. Now i would jump to Golden Gate, if it is stable.

Hello Ramy,

yes, i think also, that it is the best. It reminds me, that the driver of the audio interface and many plugins of 3rd party developers needs to be updated after a big mac os update. So i have to look on all the pages, if these software is available for mac os 27 before i update.

i am totally OS and Logic updated and have had no issues.

be warned for using outdated OS.

they are finding security issues with past O's's, so keep your computer up to date or keep it off line.

Hi, you  can continue to update Mac 26 with all its security updates. You don't have to immediately update to 27. Logic should work jutst fine but there are third paaty plugins that you might not be so lucky with. For instance Native, Waves, Izatope and most others don't claim to be Mac 27 compatible yet.

I have been using macOS27 since it went full release. There are indeed some differences in Logic Pro that I have noticed, everyone uses the DAW differently and I am a very heavy MIDI user, so what you see with audio may be different.

First and foremost, MIDI Events List:

Note names are said by number as you move across them. Maybe I should do more work with piano roll and see, a long time ago I found piano roll to be so inaccessible that the MIDI events list became engrained in my workflows. So instead of saying C4 it says 69 or something. Of course we hear the note so that’s not a show stopper, but when editing intricate large passages it can limit you. I have a Braille display connected also, so I will turn off the Braille Show Alert Messages in my activity. Braille still shows the notes.

Also, when you go to modify a start position of a note, you can usually lock the mouse down on the bar, beat, division or tick, then move the sliders. If you try that now, it says “Apple Menu” and you have to escape, so you must move each one at a time. Double clicking won’t let you edit either, it seems.  

If there was a way to reset all window sizes that might help, not sure.

Inside some synths, when doing sound design, The same thing happens sort of. First the extra info about what the control does seems to be added to the name instead of the hint, so if you’re listening you have to listen through it say control knobs adjust the value before you hear what it is.

Again with Braille connected, an NLS E-Reader in my case, the Braille tends to show the correct values once you interact with the sliders. 

What I’ve found is in all my templates, of which I have many, and this includes the LMConfig template, so it’s not template or project-specific.

One more thing on this. Idf you want to get the drag to work in the events list, here’s what I did. After locking the mouse down it said Apple Menu. Push escape, then interact again with the slider, and you can move to your heart’s content. I usually move the slider one time before I try the lock because for a few updates now that has been necessary. FN+F doesn’t work inside the events list I’ll have to give that a go in the main window though.

Thank you for the helpfull tips! So i will install 26 first, cause i use ni komplete, waves and some other plugins. Also i don't have a braille connected, so iwould have the issues with the voice over feedbacks in 27, as you described.
