Hi folks,
When Logic Magician is set to speak the start measure and move to the start of a region with the left/right arrows, Logic Pro still jumps to regions on other tracks, even if I’m focused on a different track. For example, I had a vocal track starting at bar 15 and a piano track starting earlier, but on the vocal track, the left/right arrows would still jump to the piano region. Perhaps the Marquee selection was active, though I believe it wasn't, I've no idea. This stopped after a while—maybe just my lack of experience—what’s your take? Also, sometimes when navigating regions, Logic Magician says things like “fade-in” or “fade-out.” Any idea why?
One last suggestion: when region feedback is on and I navigate the menu bar with left/right arrows instead of VO arrows, Logic Magician says “no region selected.” I assume this is because it’s still processing navigation commands, so maybe it should automatically turn off feedback during menu bar navigation.
Thank you.

I had two tracks — one piano track with a single region starting at bar 1, and another vocal track with four regions starting from bar 15. So it didn’t make sense at all when Logic started selecting the piano region first and then the vocal regions when navigating. Also, I always use the up/down arrows for track navigation unless I needed the VO navigation for non-contiguous selections. Hopefully, as I use it more, I’ll understand what I’m doing wrong!
For the Control+Left/Right Arrow fade-in/out commands, I’m 100% sure I wasn’t holding the Control key, but VoiceOver seems to have an obsession with it. When performing some VO commands, it acts as if I’m holding Control when I’m not. However, when I enable Keyboard Help, it behaves normally, so it’s definitely not a hardware issue but something with the software itself.
I’m sure things will make more sense as I use it more. I’ve been putting off learning and exploring the software lately since I haven’t had much time to sit down at my laptop, but Logic and Logic Magician have really grown on me.
Finally, about the menubar navigation problem — since I’ve gotten used to disabling speech or using VO navigation commands for the menubar, it’s not a big issue anymore. You’ve absolutely done a fantastic job with LM so far, but it would still be great if a fix were possible. Thanks for all you’ve been doing for Logic accessibility. Have a great day!

I have a specific activity for Logic where, when the app is active, it disables the Control-Option keys as the VoiceOver modifier, so I don’t think it has anything to do with the VO modifier. But something’s definitely not right, and my main problems have been with region navigation and selection from the beginning. No matter what I try, region navigation with the left and right arrows sometimes behaves independently of up and down arrow navigation between tracks. No matter what track is selected, that track’s regions sometimes never get selected. I tried performing the same actions with LM disabled and with VoiceOver turned off, but nothing fixed the issue. When I try to navigate between regions with VoiceOver off and then check what region is selected with Control-Home or Control-End, it doesn’t change the playback location, or, because it didn’t select the desired region, it jumps to a different region’s location. I checked the track contents and track background area to see the regions, and they are there. Also, when I am on the track where I can never get the regions selected, pressing the letter N to find out how many regions are selected indicates the correct track region count. I’m really, really lost.

Now that I’ve started at Berklee, I have to, and I’m using Logic extensively, and almost all the issues I mentioned before are gone, which is so weird. I realized that disabling and re-enabling the Trackpad Commander solves all the issues with the Control key. I use the trackpad a lot for my VO commands, so I can’t really give it up for now. Sometimes when I switch my audio device, VoiceOver gets quiet for a moment even though the system keeps functioning—just standard VoiceOver problems, even on a MacBook M4 Pro. But thank you for the amazing tutorials and for being a Logic magician.
