Hi guys.
I'm setting up my recording equiptment again.
I want to know why I'm struggling with volume.
I have a MTrak 2x2 mixer and a Yamaha P225 digital piano.
I select input 2 when I create a new session in Logic, and it records.
When I play it back, it is very soft.
When I go check in the master volume, it reads between -28 and -35 DB.
I have to slide the volume knob on my keyboard all the way up for it to be perfect. Between -6 and -14 DB.
But I can't play like this.
I normally insert a pair of headphones into the headphone jack on my keyboard so it mutes the keyboard, and plug my other headphones into the mixer and listen to the metronome and piano sound that way.
Can anybody please help me.
My keyboard has two line-in ports.
I just have a quarter-inch to quarter-inch cable plugged into one of the ports and the other end into input 2 on my mixer.

I would appreciate anybody's help.
Oh and so by the way, I can insert the same cable into the headphone jack directly, but then I need to be carefull of clipping and destortion, as that seems to happen easily.

Thanks
Dewald

Hi. I'm no geniud, but have you checked the impedance on your connections? It can mess up volume, in my experience.

Hi thanks. I actually Googled it. And when I heard the word "impedence" something clicked.
All this time I was working with one line-in cable.
I plugged in a split cable with two line-ins and at the other end into the mixer and the levels were perfect.

Now I'm just wondering if I could hook up my Airpods to my Mac mini and listen to the metronome from there.

Thanks
Dewald
