Selecting multiple regions has always been time-consuming and annoying for me in Logic Pro. Unfortunately, the latest version of Logic Magician still doesn’t work for me when it comes to selecting regions or tracks. So, here’s a time-saving tip if you’re experiencing the same issue! Note that this will only be applicable if the regions you want to select are consecutive. For non-contiguous selections, you’re stuck using the VO selection mode or Logic Magician tools if that works for you.

First, let’s find the key command for the shortcut we’ll use:

  1. Open the keyboard commands dialog with Option+K.
  2. Type “deselect” and look for something called “Deselect All Regions/Cells except on Focused Track.” If it’s not assigned a shortcut, assign one.
  3. Now, go to the beginning of the first region you want the selection to start and place a left locator there.
  4. Go to the end of the region you want the selection to end and place a right locator there.
  5. Press Shift+L to select all the regions between the locators.
  6. Press the keyboard shortcut for the command mentioned above to deselect everything except the selected track, which would be the track you wanted to use for selecting the regions.

Thank me later!

If after setting the left and right locators you  press Control T, to split and select between the locator on select track or tracks, you can save yourself the Press of shift L  followed  by de-select all but selected track.
Control T even  though it’s called select and split between locators, You can still use it as a select between locators key command even if the regions are already split at the locator borders.
Shift L is great when you want to select across all tracks between the locators.  on the selected track or tracks
That being said with a few more key commands you won’t even need shift L most times as there are key commands to s to copy, cut, repeat, insert silence, paste insert etc for the entire project or just the selected track.
I cover all those in depth in this tutorial. Locators are powerful editing and arrangement tools that are often misunderstood or overlooked.
