Hi all.

Where do the patches live that aren't listed in 12 anymore? I'm looking for a specific one, fifth moon. I don't know what instrument it was for though. I didn't save a project with it. So I just want to know how to find it and where to put it so I can access it again. I want to actually look at how it's set up, so I can learn how to make something similar.

Actually doing a search turns it up as:

‎⁨drummbel⁩ ▸ ⁨Library⁩ ▸ ⁨Application Support⁩ ▸ ⁨Logic⁩ ▸ ⁨Channel Strip Settings⁩ ▸ ⁨Instrument⁩ ▸ ⁨06 Synthesizers⁩ ▸ ⁨01 Synth Leads⁩

So I guess I just need to know where to move it so it shows up again, and how to access it once it's moved. That's the only thing that shows up for it, so I'd guess that's all I need.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Keep in mind there is a difference between Plug in settings,.PST files, Channel strip settings, .cst files, and patches, .patch files. In your user folder > music > audio music apps you will find a sub folder for each of those types. In the Channel Strip Setting or patch sub holders you will find further sub folders for the track type. Given this is a Software instrument CST or patch file, you will want to put it in the instrument sub folder  in the appropriate Channel Strip Setting or patch folder.
If it’s a patch it will show up under user patches in the library. This will appear above the first category in the library once you have user patches. User Channel strip settings used to show up there also in Logic 11 not sure if it does in Logic 12 though . If not you can easily get to channel strip settings by selecting the appropriate track and pressing Option C if using Logic Magician. If not using Logic Magician you can get to  channel strip settings by interacting with the channel strip for that track in the mixer and it should be at the top of the channel strip.
There is a detailed tutorial explaining all this on the  channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGsH4dg3m50

Remember when somebody was asking about a church organ patch that seemed to disappear with logic 12? Does anybody know where that disappeared?

OK. By sheer dumb luck, I think I have all of the old Logic instruments. I have Fifth Moon back anyway. I don't know what the name of the organ is that people are looking for but I've got one called Full Cathedral that seems promising. The Channel Strip Settings directory is 81 MB, I thought of just talking about Instrument but that's 47 MB so most of it anyway. Is it OK to share this somewhere? I don't feel like doing anything illegal but I'd like to help people get stuff back.

In case you want to check for yourself, here's my process. I don't know where Logic stores stuff by default, I told it to put things in a directory called library on my external drive, that's because I thought it would make a Logic subdir, but it didn't. So the path is:

Library/Application Support/Logic/Channel Strip Settings

In there are subdirs, I just copied Instrument and pasted  it into:

~/Music/Audio Music Apps/Channel Strip settings

That had a subdir called Instrument but it was empty. So I just told it to replace. Now at the top of my library browser in Logic, above Bass, I have "user channel strip settings" with the old list of instruments, e.g. 05 keyboards, which has organs under it. Well whatever the number is, I didn't open Logic to check.

So you never know, you might already have all of these handy yourself. But if you don't, and we think it's OK, I can zip the Channel Strip Settings directory and put it up somewhere so you can grab it and paste it into the appropriate spot. Honestly it would be useful to have somebody check and write this up properly.

I don't know where the other stuff lives, e.g. bus, so I didn't paste it in, and I don't know how to check to see where it would end up, or how to fix it if it ends up in the wrong place for Logic to use it. But according to a video I saw about restoring this stuff from 11 to 12, there are also older versions of these, I think he mentioned Master settings, that were lost along with the instruments.

To be clear, I know they all go to the same path. But I don't know if everything would show up in User Channel Strips in the library, and if it did, if that would mess anything up in terms of using mastering settings within Logic, for example, as opposed to the instruments. I don't know where the rest of them are in Logic right now and I don't know what you're supposed to do with them. So I wouldn't be able to check and make sure everything's working properly.

Anyway, if somebody needs this stuff and we think it's OK, I'm happy to share. I think you can get the instruments and all back in one fell swoop, maybe barring sample-based things. I just checked and Full cathedral from Organs works at least.

Anything that is in the appropriate sub folders inside the patch, channel strip setting or plug in setting folders in ~/music/audio music apps will show up under user patch or user  channel strip setting s or in the the appropriate plug  preset browser thats part of the logic interface.
However it’s not possible to get everything back in one fell swoop outside of the channel strip settings. The patches have been re-arranged and some aren’t missing, just in new places. Unless you want to have the logic 11 and Logic 12 locations both open in finder windows or tabs and compare the two folders you will probably end up with a lot of duplicates and confusion when browsing the library.
Regarding the sampler, all of those are in the sampler under legacy.
