How can I load Komplete Kontrol in Logic?

Hi guys,
I’ve been going round in circles with AI on this.
Can I do this with logic magician? I’ve opened a new empty project, selected software instrument, but it’s defaulting to Drumb Designer even though Logic did pick up on my KK keyboard and added it as a control surface.
I’m still in 2021 thinking perhaps? I’d like to have KK in Logic so I can browse my instruments, live play and record.
Any pointers please?

Create a new software instrument track, then select AU Midi Instruments in the dropdown, expand that, go into Native Instruments, select Komplete Control, and select stereo.

Hi Rich,

"select AU Midi Instruments in the dropdown” I see software instrument as the first radio button,  which I’m selecting, then I’m selecting external midi after the next software instrument radio button is this right?

I don’t know where AU is after I click  create.  I’m in the window with  "Inst 1”.

On a software instrument track you can press 1 for the instrument then x to drop down the menu to change it. You can type Komplete in the search field and down arrow to complete control and press return to load it. Otherwise it will be under AU instruments > Natice Instruments > Komplete Kontrol.

External MIDI track is for use with physical external MIDI hardware. Even though Komplete Kontrol is not a stock logic plug in you still choose a software instrument track as it’s still a software instrument not hardware or external.

Hi Tom,

Thanks, I’ve selected software instrument but where’s this AU thing?  The only thing I know about AU is that it stands for Audio Unit.

I’m the least experienced on this list with this all ;-)

How TO Add Komplete Kontrol TO A Track With Logic Magician

On a software instrument track you can press 1 for the instrument then x to drop down the menu to change it. You can type Komplete in the search field and down arrow to complete control and press return to load it. Otherwise If you choose not to use the search then down arrow to Au Instruments. It will be under AU instruments > Native Instruments > Komplete Kontrol.

Hi Tom,

That worked a treat!  Thank you so much.  I’ve been on a journey and a half since 2021 with my health and just to get my setup started again here so I can live play and go through my Komplete Kontrol and Korg M1 sound patches again has put a huge smile on my face!
