Easier table navigation.

Hi all.

I was playing around with the trial of Organteq. I'm guessing in this case the answer is to just go into its own interface, but of course, there are plugins where that won't work.

I see there are like 500 plus entries in the table. I wanted to remove the reverb, and altered a few different reverb things before I got to reverb mix. Obviously setting that to zero got rid of it. That made me wonder though, is there easier parameter navigation than just scrolling through the entire table?

If you don't know what the table has you'd have to scroll through all of them, naturally. But if you do, or you have a good idea something like reverb will be in there, do we have faster navigation possibilities? I'm also thinking of grouping, say I wanted to alter reverb characteristics, it would be useful to just have all of the reverb parameters in a list, not separated by bunches of other parameters. So I'm just curious if there are any tricks.

This is a part of how Pianoteq used to be in Version 7.4 and below. But now you can in fact use parts of the editor. So go from Controls view to Pianoteq use W when the plug-in window is open  f you have Logic Magician installed and pick Pianoteq.

Now where the table would normally be, there is a group called “Juce application.” If you’re using speech to read ths, juce is spelled j u c e. Inside there are the various panels for voicings, tuning, design, pedals and more. VO Shift h works on most controls in there to give you a better description. I don’t know what the demo shows or doesn’t. I have had the full studio package for a year, had pro before that for quite a few years. Fortunately anything you buy from them in the Pianoteq ecosystem will reduce the price of any upgrades.

When you use your brackets normally to change presets, that gives you access to the main instruments themselves defaulting to one of that instrument’s presets, so you might be on NY Steinway Model D as the instrument and Classical as the preset. When you open the presets manager, you then will have all the list of the presets. If you move right past that you can in theory filter by instrument but I find not all the instruments show so moving by preset and skipping down tends to work especially if you’re looking for some new options or one you haven’t used in a while. VO Shift H is your friend here, it will give you  hints on almost everything.

Oh and when done selecting a preset make sure to VO right to “Close Preset Manager” so you get access to everything else.

The only parameter I can’t find is for the piano lid. You need Controls View for that, and there are 2 parameters labeled Lid, one you can change by small amounts, this is for mic placements. The other is for the lid to be on or off, so you can record with it open as you would in a concert, or closed as was popular with the pop pianos from Yamaha in the 70s and 80s. 

There’s a fair amount of hunting around to do with all the parameters and what you can change for your pedals options, so when you have something you like you’ll want to save that preset and patch.
