Region Selection Mode with Magician doesn't work

Hello, I’ve been enjoying the Logic Magician and using it every day. Although almost all features work without issues, anything related to selecting regions, including selecting a region under playhead with option+shift+n, or the region selection mode with control+shift+n, with the Magician has never worked for me. It wasn’t working on 11.2.2, and now it doesn’t work on Logic Pro 12 either. If I perform tricks like making Logic Pro full screen, opening another copy of the main window, and clicking on the track with the mouse, sometimes, if I’m lucky, the selection mode gets activated with control+Shift+N, but that’s really rare.

I even chatted with TheOreoMonster about this, but we couldn’t find a workaround. I’m sharing an audio demonstration in hopes that the developers could find a fix for this or tell me what I’m doing wrong. Although I checked my project template, and everything seems to be adjusted correctly. I can send the project to Laid Sivic or TheOreoMonster if needed.

And I also reinstalled/updated logic magician this morning because i thought it might fix the issue. It didn’t fix anything but when i use option+space to pause, it says “no active modules” when the magician is active, how can i stop that? Option+space worked just fine before i reinstalled magician. The reason i use option+space as opposed to control+space is the fact that i switch between keyboard layouts quite often with control+space.

If I heard it right from demo, you use VO + arrow keys for track selection right?
If that is the case, then it may be a reason why it doesn’t work for you.
It has nothing to do with lm, it’s just how Logic Pro handles track selection, and it may work for the most part as they made some improvements with that, but still, it’s not 100% consistent.

I use both select region under playhead and region selection mode pretty much every day and it never fails.
The only difference between you and me, I never use VO + arrow keys, just up and down arrows for track selection. I don’t have to full screen the window or do anything else. I don’t see that you’re doing anything wrong, you just use track selection in a way which happens to be not 100% consistent for some people.
So, let’s try selecting tracks with up and down arrow keys only, and then try both option shift N and ctrl shift N.
If it works awesome. If that doesn’t change anything, then we’ll jump on discord together and see what’s going on.

Another reason why it may not work for you is that you maybe switched focus to secondary track with ctrl tab, which is in most cases stereo out or bus. None of those have regions, so it won't work.
You can always press T key to see which track you have selected if not sure. Technically speaking, if T key reports right track, then region selection mode must work, as they are dependent on each other.

In any case, try what I suggested and report back. Whether I’m right or wrong, we’ll figure it out.

Hello, thank you for your interest and detailed response. I typically use the up/down arrows instead of vo+up/down, except when making non-contiguous selections. I occasionally used the vo keys during the demonstration, hoping it would resolve this issue. I’ve created another audio file explaining the problem and what works or doesn’t. Here it is:
