android log command

Hi,

first of all, nice job! I do like yuor app.

I have installed your app, logcatudp, but when I run by  command line "log -p w messagex", it doesn't get sent to the syslog server...

Is logcatudp sending only certain type of event?

I working on a script to send the content of few sqlite db through syslog on android....

Could help me in find a way to do it using your logcatudp?

Hi,

application is sending every message readed from logcat. You can set message filter in app settings if you don't want to send all messages.

Problem may be from android version 4.1 because of security "enhancement" in Jelly Bean:

Permission android.permission.READ_LOGS is not granted to 3rd party applications.

Solution is to root your device and grant READ_LOGS or convert application to system app:

If you need to send logcat messages produced by application which is reading log, it is not a problem. Application is permitted to read its own messages from log.

I forgot to tell you , that my device is already rooted, but still cannot see all system logs (kernel log, Application log, system log, event log) are you grabbing them all with logcat?

Application code is opensourced here:

So you can see there which messages from logcat are sent (class LogcatThread).

Application is grabbing default log buffer which is "main" log buffer.

Feel free to clone and modify it by your own.
