Subject: Call for applications for PhD positions in Torino (deadline 9 June)

Dear all,

There is an open call for positions in the PhD program in Mathematics at the University of Torino, Italy. (Deadline: June 9th.)

There are 9 positions with scholarship, with one reserved for candidates with a foreign master degree. See here for a description of the 9 positions. See also this link for a list of research topics with corresponding possible supervisors.

Although no position is specifically reserved for logic, there are good chances that at least one of them will be assigned to a student with an interest in that area. Torino hosts one of the leading groups of logicians in Italy (see here for more information). The research of the group focuses on Set Theory, Descriptive Set Theory, Model Theory, and their connections to other areas of logic and mathematics. Moreover, the group is part of a network that organises various joint activities.

Here is the link for the call and information on how to apply.

The interviews for the selection of candidates will take place at the end of June / first half of July, and can be carried out online. The outcome of the selection will be published in the second half of July; admitted candidates have 7 days to accept the position.

Candidates must obtain their Master degree by October 31st, 2026 (and not by the expiry date of the call).

The starting date of the PhD program is November 1st, 2026.

Please forward this email to anyone who might be interested. Attached is a .pdf with a poster to be printed and distributed to your contacts. Many thanks for your help in sharing the information.

Please contact Luca Motto Ros for further information.

Best wishes, Philipp Schlicht
