Hola.
Ver detalles abajo.

Dear colleagues,
I'm writing in the hope that you can help spread the word about two
opportunities for positions in set theory at the Institute of
Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, namely two
positions as PhD students and one as a tenure-track-type
researcher. Some further details below:
- As part of a new grant with the Czech Science Foundation led by
myself, David Chodounský, and Šárka Stejskalová, we have money to fund
two PhD students. Logistically, the students would likely enroll in the
Department of Algebra of Charles University, from
where they would officially receive their PhD degree, but they would be
employed at the Institute of Mathematics and supervised by David and/or
myself. The main topics of the grant are combinatorial compactness
principles at small cardinals and generalized
descriptive set theory at omega_1, but we would welcome students
interested in any aspects of set theory. In case you know of any
talented master's students who may be interested in doing a PhD in
Prague, please put them in touch with me and/or David. I believe
the deadline for applications to the Charles University PhD program is
at the end of March, to start next autumn.
- The Department of
Mathematical Logic and Theoretical Computer Science at IM CAS has a job
opening for a tenure-track-type researcher position. The position is
open to researchers in any area of mathematical logic; I think that set
theorists would have a
reasonable chance of success. The job listing is posted
here (it's the Research Fellow position). This is essentially the
same position that David and I have at the institute; it is a purely
research job with no teaching duties, though typically one can offer
courses at Charles University if and when one wants.
I sent an email directly to a few potential applicants already, but
please spread the word about the position to anyone you know who might
be interested.
Thanks, and if you have any questions about either of the positions, feel free to get in touch with me and/or David.
Best wishes,
Chris
