TheRenault K9K 1.5 dCI is a 1.5 l (1,461 cc, 89.15 cu-in) straight-four 4-stroke turbocharged diesel engine co-developed by Nissan and Renault. The engine is produced since 2001. The K9K engines are available in different versions, each configuration corresponds to the three-digit code and have deifferent specificatons.
The K9K engine features cast-iron block with five-bearings crankshaft and aluminum head with a single camshaft (SOHC) and two valves per cylinder. The K9K 1.5 dCI has a common-rail injection system and turbocharger Borg-Warner.
There are three versions of 1.5 dCI engine: a low power level version, a high power level version and a high power version with variable geometry turbocharger. Low power versions (up to 66 kW) uses the Delphi fuel injection system for Euro 3,4 engines or Bosch for Euro 5 versions. High power versions (70 kW and higher) uses fuel injection system by Continental. The engines are equipped with EGR-system and latest modifications use diesel particulate filter.
The K9K has a cast-iron cylinder block with five bearing support system. The engine used forged steel connecting rods, each piston is equipped with two compression and single oil control ring. Bore and stroke are 76.0 mm (2.99 in) and 80.5 mm (3.17 in), respectively. Compression ratio rating is 15.2:1.
The cylinder head is made of strong, light aluminum alloy which gives it good cooling efficiency. The camshaft is supported by six bearings. The engine uses the timing belt and does not have hydraulic lifters, so special valve lifters are used to adjust the valve clearance.

Take crank pulley off ,slot in crankshaft should be at 12 o clock.
Camshaft pulley should be able to put bolt into hole, at this point take plug out under starter motor and put special bolt in place to lock crank. This will now be locked on correct valve timing
