Hey all,
I wanted to inform you about a new group. Please forward this on to students, professors, or any others you think may be interested. I would also appreciate any feedback you have on it.
WHO: The Northern Utah Data Science group
WHAT: DO real data projects, GAIN real data skills, MEET real(ly) talented people
WHEN: October 17, 7:00 PM
GOAL: Our goal is to bring together talented people from the many disciplines that make up data science (statistics, computing, database management, visualization, etc.) to share tools and skills while working on real data projects.
WHY: Data Science is a hot, new field. Sure, it's a big buzz word and it gets too much hype in the media, but the need for people who have the technical skills to work with data is undisputed. Data Science is multi-disciplinary, reaching everything from internet businesses to politics. We put together this group so that we could provide a common place for people from different technical backgrounds to meet and work on data projects together. By joining and sharing your knowledge and experience with the group, you will help us create an environment where we can all gain skills in:
- Data Collection
- Statistical analysis
- Visualization design
- Data product creation and management
- Problem solving
- Hypothesis testing
- So much more...
Join us as we explore the data, share our skills, and learn together, gaining valuable experience that is already in high demand in the industry.
Please RSVP on the Event link above (we want to make sure there are enough seats). Post questions there, too.
!!! We want people to contribute. Please post on the event if you can share a tool or give a short demo.
See you there,
Cam Peterson
