Hello all
FYI
Gardeners are I believe mostly from African migrant community who have been growing together with support from Access + QHealth
600 INVITATIONS HAND DELIVERED! - Saturday is the planned ‘Have your say day’ at Elm Park Community Garden from 9am – 12pm.
The park has a swing set, one set of seats and a community garden that was built two years ago from a partnership between Queensland Health, Access Community Services with Logan City Council providing the land. The partnership has put in a new application to expand the existing garden. Part of that application is for the garden to remain fenced in for security purposes with registered plot owners.
I am keen to canvas whether residents like this idea or would like to see plans for the garden fence come down, council to expand and open up more plots, create a mulching area, children’s garden, mums and bubs garden and community kitchen with a view to hosting gardening talks and morning teas there in the future. This is your community and your views really do matter on this decision!
I will be shouting a sausage sizzle and mini easter egg hunt on the day, so please come down to have a bite to eat, meet your neighbours and talk to council officers who will be there listening to your feedback and ideas (byo chair and easter basket).
I look forward to meeting you on the 20th at the garden and hearing your ideas for the future. If you cannot make it along on the day and want to put your thoughts forward, please send me an email on
teres...@logan.qld.gov.au and make sure you identify your name and address please.
Cheers
Kathy
