| New Video: Chicken Tractor on Steroids!
|
This is the video many of you have been waiting for. A small scale chicken system that runs entirely on compost and no grain. And No, its not run on Steroids or any other drug or growth hormone. Its completely natural. Geoff used that expression when he saw how well the system worked.
If you've watched Geoff Lawton's other film with Karl Hammer who fed his chickens no grain then you'll appreciate the design of this system.
Geoff has built this small scale version using only 28 Australorp birds to power his system. The birds are fed a mixture of mulch, horse and cow manure and a layer of vegetables from the local green grocer and kitchen scraps from the farm kitchen. No chicken feed or other grain is fed to his birds.
Geoff's been
quietly testing this chicken system over the last month and he swears the chickens lay more eggs, look fitter, build more compost and his garden beds never looked more healthier and dynamic. This video is 18 minutes long so make sure you have plenty of time to sit down and watch it carefully as Geoff outlines all the steps you need to go through to grow chickens, eggs and quality compost for the garden.
Geoff will be in California speaking at the Permaculture Voices
Conference this weekend but he did promise to read your comments and will answer as many as he can online. Tell us what you think. Make sure you leave a comment at the bottom of each video at Geofflawton.com.

| Last Week's Video: The Earthworks Course Introduction
|
If you're considering doing Geoff Lawton's Permaculture Design Certificate Course later this month and want to know more, check out the Bonus $1200 Earthworks course we are including for FREE.
Its a mixture of classroom and field lectures that will bring you up to
speed and teach you how to build, dams, ponds, swales, water features, spillways and house sites using excavators.
This 14 minute introductory video introduces you to the concept of Earthworks as how you can learn how to design these productive features onto your land using heavy earth building machinery. Don't be intimidated by the destructive power of heavy machinery. With solid practical skills, you direct machinery for good purposes and work wonders around the planet once you
understand the basics.
Geoff calls it, "Earth Surgery." Check it out!

| Advanced Cell Grazing
|
If you've watched Geoff's other video called The Property Purchase Checklist you will have noticed towards the end of that film how Geoff introduces you to the idea of cattle lane-ways. Small allotments where cattle are grazed briefly for a day or two and then are moved on to
greener grass.
In this video Geoff expands on how you can use this system to enhance the fertility on your land and increase plant diversity by controlling the destructive movement of cattle in a selective way. You get the benefit of rebuilding ecosystems with healthy plants, healthy animals and healthy humans. It's a no-brainer.

| Community Gardens
|
From California in the West Coast to the cold
climate zones in the East, Geoff visits a number of different Permaculture gardens springing up and notices a common thread. A lot of people are growing food that should never be grown in that climate and zone and doing it successfully. How do they do it?
Geoff even visits the University of Massachusetts and spots an unusual Permaculture garden that won The White House Challenge. Even the Chancellor wants a Permaculture garden!

| Gabions! A Masterclass Lesson in Fixing Drylands
|
Plenty of people have tried to stop the
spread of desertification in dryland environments. In this Masterclass lesson, Geoff Lawton demonstrates using architectural visualization software, how to build fertility back into drylands using a simple technique anyone can do on their land.
Watch this short 10 minute video and see how to do it yourself. The problem is the solution with Permaculture.

| Cold Climate Future
|
Geoff Lawton takes you 40 years into the
future into a secret and private Massachusetts cold climate food forest. If you thought a cold climate was just a bunch of deciduous fruit and nut trees - think again. Think mighty jungle vines and a carpet of trailing exotic fruit! Heck! There's even room for Tarzan up there!
Also rocket stoves, bees, maple syrup and rehydrating America's forests with clean fresh spring water. Geoff Lawton does it again!

| From Desert to Oasis in 4 Years
|
Geoff Lawton takes you to Wadi Rum in Jordan the Middle East and shows you how he transformed a hostile dry desert into a fertile oasis in four years.
"If we can do it here, we can do it anywhere." he says.
Geoff Lawton reveals his little known secrets of soil fertility capture using a succession of plants and succulents. See the amazing results in this 13 minute video.

| The Perfect Permaculture Fish Pond
|
Geoff Lawton shows you how he uses cows and horses to clean out the growth around one of his disused fish ponds and transform it into a fertile oasis full of
fish, beauty and abundance.
From renovating a pond with a small solar pump and a fish feeding station with a clever fish capture gate - to a floating raft of food, see what can be done differently on your land with a little clever permaculture inspiration.

|
Geoff Lawton visits Permaculture authors Eric Toensmeier and Jonathan Bates and looks at their tiny one tenth of an acre cold climate yard located in
Holyoke, Massachusetts.
Here they grow over 200 perennial food plants, including bananas and share their secrets - what food is possible to be grown even in the coldest climate zones like theirs, where the outside temperature can drop to minus 20 Centigrade.

Geoff Lawton visits Ben Falk's magnificent Permaculture farm in beautiful Vermont close to the Canadian border. Geoff shows you the features you should have in your cold climate Greenhouses. How Hugelkultur is used to kick start a food forest and how that system evolves over
a few short years. Why Fish Ponds are so productive. How natural heaving of ice can remineralise your swales. Ben Falk explains how he managed to grow rice on his cold climate farm. Lots of great ideas for you to consider.

| Designing a Food Forest with Goats
|
Even if you don't have goats, you should check out this short Geoff Lawton video on how he uses goats to get rid of weed trees and invasive shrubs by working goats to improve his land.
He also gets a free surplus of stick fuel to power his rocket stove heater. It's a great
example of how to use goats creatively and intelligently with Permaculture design. You get the benefit of improved land and fuel management and the goats get to do what they love to do best - munching down on trees!
