Dear Log Moocs,

The arts and humanities can open up the doors to people, experiences, and places that we may have never otherwise witnessed. National Arts and Humanities Month in the United States encourages individuals to discover new ways to enjoy the arts – something anyone can do wherever they are in the world. From the history of women in the arts to the craft of designing wigs for all hair textures, these learning experiences allow you to explore new areas that may have previously been inaccessible near you.

Taking Stage Makeup and Hair to the Next Level

Equitable Stage Makeup and Hair goes beyond the typical hair or makeup tutorial: it allows you to see the canvas in everyone, and the tools to allow all performers to be their best selves. This course offers in-depth knowledge of various skin types and hair textures, featuring videos that cover a range of products, brushes, and techniques. You’ll also have the opportunity to hear from renowned makeup artists and performers, gaining a deeper understanding of the diverse range of hair types.

Learn the importance of inclusive makeup and hair.

Tracing Black Performance Throughout History

Black performance in the United States has deep roots, connecting song and dance from the era of slavery to modern protest movements. Black Performance as Social Protest enables you to explore periods in time while identifying patterns of resistance from the past that contribute to ongoing social justice movements. This course includes a 9-minute short musical film that guides you through each era, relaying iconic songs from each period.

Explore the nuances of Black performance.

Visualizing Women’s Work

Women have been creating art as far back as we can go, but the credit they’ve received is few and far between. Visualizing Women’s Work guides you through the artistic process, cultivating a deeper appreciation for art with a social justice lens. By examining real-world examples, you’ll be able to develop your own media-based or literary projects that respond to gender bias in public commemoration.

Deepen your art appreciation.
