Here's an idea to tackle the ADA dilemma for Dining Room access. A
person in need of an ADA access would simply enter the outside deck
from curb-side and be moved across the deck to a new Dining
Room access door. That new access door would be installed to provide
access directly into the mid-level of the Main Dining Room. The
current storage shed on the exterior could be relocated. It currently
is used to store a small pile of material for a dance floor and is
mostly empty. As viewed from the exterior....there are 4 windows
serving the mid-level seating area. The door would be installed in the
first window on the left....just to the right of the large tree. This
location would have the least impact on the "view" from that level.
The floor level of the interior is 2 steps above the exterior deck.
That elevation would be accommodated by a zigzag ramp on the exterior
where the storage shed is located. It would link to the deck coming
from the bar level exit stairway, thus preserving the access to the
bar stairway while providing a new ADA access directly into the
Dining Room. A heating duct at the window sill would simply be re-
located to a floor duct. A push button electric door would be a plus
for the person assisting the person needing easier access. No
footprint changes to the Lodge. Permits may not be needed. It would
require snow removal for that portion of the walkway from the street
to the access door that is not covered. Most of the deck is already
covered, though. An series of exterior, sensor-operated lights might
also be a plus for the area outside the door and the route to the door
from curbside.

Rodger - Thanks for your ideas and for taking the time to show me the
area at the Lodge that you describe in your post. These Ideas are all
open for discussion amongst the "members" and Ranch management. I
invite any others who would like to contribute to this topic to join
in the discussion.
