 Position Information

Flexible position available for a part-time or full-time employee. This will be in our Gosnells clinic, although there is a possibility of transferring to our Bibra Lake clinic in the future. 0-12 year old client population with a mix of private clients and NDIS.  Mostly clinic based with some travel to schools/childcare centres for variety.

Our clinics are well resourced with a range of assessments, therapy tools, toys and games. We have lots of systems and templates in place to make day to day tasks easier!

Experience working as a paediatric Speech Pathologist is preferred, however new graduates are also encouraged to apply. Extra, personalised support is provided for new graduate and early career therapists. 

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor/Masters degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent
  • Membership (Certified Practicing) Speech Pathology Australia
  • Ability to engage with children and their families.
  • Assessment and therapy skills for early communication, language and speech sounds.
  • Own transport
  • Ability to manage time well and be organised.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills within a team, with clients, referrers and others you will be in contact with, including strong verbal and written communication.
  • Willingness to continue learning and having fun!

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with literacy assessment and therapy
  • Experience with paediatric feeding and mealtime population

Viva speech pathology has exciting part time and full-time positions on offer in our well-resourced clinic environments on experienced teams of therapists and administrators.

We hope you are a highly professional and experienced therapist seeking reliable and flexible work at one of our clinics!

We were established in 2006 and have strong referral networks. We strive to deliver services our families and clients need. Clinicians can rely on our organised receptionist who provides administrative support up to 4 days per week. All work is currently clinic based (Yokine, Joondalup) or school-based (Yanchep). Minimal travel is required for most positions.

Our therapists provide evidenced based treatment for a wide range of paediatric areas including language difficulties, speech delays, speech disorders, stuttering, language and literacy, AAC and / voice therapy. Viva speech pathology also provides diagnostic Autism assessment via our multidisciplinary team networks.  (Please note there is scope to work in feeding and related therapy areas in the future as we have experience in this area on our team).

Therapists may opt to work in specific areas which they have skills and knowledge base in. There are a wide range of opportunities for skill development for early career therapists (including joint sessions, observing sessions, second opinion assessments, mentoring documents and meetings).

The practice owner and principal speech pathologist is willing to provide information sessions on specific therapy areas. Examples include:

  • Graduate support: Developing repertoire of therapy targeting speech and language errors
  • Graduate support: Assessing thoroughly (informal and formal assessment and determining strengths and levels of students for their age)
  • Stuttering therapy (considerations, factors, types of therapy for different ages and severity)
  • Selecting and implementing AAC systems in collaboration with the client / student and family
  • Basic introduction and revision of voice therapy (adults and children)
  • Mentorship and supervision to learn how to do Autism screening and assessment in a team
  • Learning how to set up another practice with extra financial incentives to manage a new Viva speech pathology clinic in new locations

Therapists can opt to work with specific age ranges only at Viva speech pathology.
    • Organisation and time-management skills to manage tasks and caseload
    • Well-developed verbal and written communication
    • Excellent interpersonal skills within a team, with students, parents, clients, and referrers.

    Desirable Skills depending on the caseload the therapist wishes to have at Viva speech pathology

    • Experience in other clinic areas outlined in our scope of practice
    • Experience assisting with an Autism diagnosis using the DSV V criteria and reputable Autism assessments on an independent basis.
    • Senior speech pathology or project experience
