To resolve this is it acceptable to move the diode after the output capacitors and to tap the feedback potential divider from after the diode to compensate for the diode drop? Again the diode is within the control circuit of the convertor but the output caps are directly on the output of the IC. (Example circuit below)
If this is still causes instability/poor performance in the convertor, then the best solution will be to place the diode after the convertor as you mention and to increase the convertor output voltage to compensate for the nominal diode forward drop. The resulting regulation of the system supply rail will be dependant on the diode characteristics but a few 100mV variation would probably be acceptable in this design.
So... beggars the question does anyone have a file convertor? I have no idea how to do it myself otherwise I would, as it would be a very useful migration tool.. Saying that, I am also happy to enter the parameters myself into HXN if I need too (might be a long night....)
