The North Shattuck Block Party returns TODAY, Saturday, July 25th! Come on out for a fabulous day of music, food, drinks, games and summertime fun in the neighborhood.

The Block Party is the biggest event of the summer in North Shattuck, and it's going to be a day to remember! Come out today and have a blast. Don't miss the Unfiltered after party at Vintage Berkeley, from 6-9pm! Details below.

North Shattuck Block Party

The North Shattuck Association invites the community to celebrate summer at the annual North Shattuck Block Party on Saturday, July 25 from 11am to 6pm. The free, all-ages event will transform two blocks of North Shattuck at Rose Street into a vibrant community gathering space filled with live entertainment, local food and drink, artisan vendors, family activities, and neighborhood spirit.



From music and dancing to shopping and dining, the North Shattuck Block Party showcases the unique businesses, artisans, and culinary destinations that have made North Berkeley a renowned destination for generations.


Attendees can enjoy live music performances throughout the day while exploring artisan vendor booths, family-friendly crafts, interactive lawn games, and community activities. The event will also feature a variety of food and beverage offerings, including craft beer, California wines, and delicious local fare.


“The Block Party is a celebration of everything that makes North Shattuck special,” says a representative from the North Shattuck Association. “It’s an opportunity for neighbors, families, and visitors to come together, support local businesses, and experience the creativity, culture, and community that define this district.”

Try some of the best food in the Bay Area at the Block Party! There will be something for everyone: meat eaters, vegetarians, gluten free, kids, etc!


Bar & Specialty Cocktails


There will also be a full bar where you can get specialty cocktails, mocktails, and other bar favorites.


Shasta Pop is the official cocktail partner of the Block Party - try one of the specialty drinks, or order your own Shasta drink combo.


Proceeds from drinks sold at the bar are a fundraiser for the North Shattuck Association.

Entertainment Highlights


There are four amazing bands playing sets all day long at the Block Party. Get excited to move and groove to the jazz, reggae, and North African fusion music that these talented musicians will be bringing to the stage. Keep reading to learn more about the performers and set times.

Zesty Lemons: 11:30-1:30pm


Established in 2023, the Zesty Lemons are a jazz combo of young musicians excited to be starting out their music careers.


Bay Area born and bred, you can find them playing shows around Berkeley and the East Bay. Get excited for their set at the Block Party!

Berkeley High Jazz: 2:00-2:30pm


Berkeley High Jazz has a vibrant music program that fosters creativity, community, cultural understanding, respect, and career preparation through the study of jazz.


Berkeley High Jazz has been renowned for decades and honed the skills of so many talented young musicians.

Rankin Scroo: 2:45-4:00pm


Born and raised in Jamaica, Rankin Scroo has always had music as the center of his life. From his earliest days singing in church to his teenage years as a reggae rapper, Rankin achieved worldwide recognition as a talented singer, producer, songwriter and innovative performer.

Terga: 4:30-6:00pm


TERGA brings cinematic North African grooves, soulful guitar, percussion, and high-energy live performances.


A modern bridge between Maghreb rhythms, desert blues, Spanish guitar, funk pulse, and festival-ready stage energy.

Artisan Vendors & Shopping


Come out and shop the artisan vendor stalls at the Block Party! Fifteen local artists, creators, and vendors will be selling their wares, and you can find some gorgeous unique items for yourself or a loved one.


Find locally-made, one-of-a-kind jewelry, ceramics, home decor, art, beauty and self-care products, textiles, and more!


North Shattuck is also home to an amazing collection of independent retail businesses, where you can shop for everything you need, right here in the neighborhood.

Kids' Zone & Family-Friendly Fun


The North Shattuck Block Party will have plenty of fun activities and entertainment for all ages! Even the smallest festival-goers will have a blast, so bring your little ones, and tell your friends and family to bring their kids!


Kids' Activities include:

  • Free face painting from 11:30am to 3pm
  • Balloon animals
  • Giant lawn games (Jenga, Connect 4, Cornhole)
  • And more!

You can take BART and public transit the North Shattuck Block Party! To avoid having to park in the busy commercial district of North Shattuck, public transportation is a great option.


To get there, you can take BART to either North Berkeley or Downtown Berkeley - both are around 1 mile away from the Block Party, from which you can then take an AC Transit bus, scooter, bike, or walk.

Not ready for the fun to end after the Block Party? Head to Vintage Berkeley for the After Party for the Unfiltered Wine Fest. From 6 to 9pm, you can try more delicious wine, served by the glass and bottle with delicious food available from Tacos El Ultimo Baile! They will be serving up some delicious brisket and tri-tip tacos.

Mixed Doubles Gallery Show

The Mixed Doubles exhibit showcases art and craft by more than 30 ACCI and guest artists working in tandem. The show got its start four years ago, inspired by a partnership between woodworker Peter Howkinson and mosaic artist Judy Rosenfield. For this third show, a wide range of artists joined forces, sharing inspiration and skills to create dozens of pieces of new work.

The banners are newly displayed throughout North Berkeley, highlighting the incredible talent of the local artists and celebrating the cultural identity of the neighborhood. This project has been in the works for the last two years, and the North Shattuck Association and all the artists are thrilled that it has finally come to life, displayed for everyone to admire and enjoy.

North Shattuck Shines Brighter


The North Shattuck Association is excited to unveil vibrant new bistro lighting lining the streets of the Shattuck corridor, with coverage extending from Vine Street through Delaware Street, including an additional installation on Vine Street at Walnut Square. 


Spanning approximately 2,800 linear feet along both sides of the street, these warm, glowing lights add a festive charm, brightening storefronts, enhancing visibility, and creating a safer, more inviting atmosphere for evening strolls, dining, and shopping.


Designed for both beauty and reliability, the energy-efficient LED lighting shines consistently year-round, while smart timers and built-in battery backup ensure seamless operation with minimal maintenance.


This project is a bright investment in our district’s vitality, supporting stakeholders, encouraging increased customer activity, and bringing a welcoming glow to North Shattuck day and night.
