Happy April to the North Shattuck community! Spring is here and North Shattuck is the most beautiful place to be as the sun shines and the flowers start to bloom. Fun foodie events like Berkeley Restaurant Week and Taste of North Berkeley (get your tickets now! ) are coming up, so get excited to eat some delicious, seasonal fare in the heart of the slow food scene.
Make your voice heard at the Listening Session for the Corridors Zoning Update on April 16th, and find other ways to get involved in the community.

Swap n' Shop - North Shattuck - Earth Day Sidewalk Sale Saturday, April 18 | 11am - 4pm From Rose To Delaware
Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 18th, for a district-wide sidewalk sale and clothing swap. Celebrating Earth Day, the Swap n' Shop event centers eco-friendly values of upcycling and reducing waste, and you may find some amazing new second-hand treasures! There will be clothing, art supplies, tools, and other goodies to buy and swap. Come out and join the community on Earth Day!
After you've swapped and shopped, join the after-party at Vintage Berkeley (2113 Vine St), where there will be wine, vinyl records, and good vibes all around.

The Filling Station (2112B Vine St) is accepting clothing donations starting April 11th through the morning of April 18th. The clothes must be clean and wearable - bonus if you bring them on hangers. They are also looking to borrow rolling racks to hang the clothing on during the swap. Please bring your own bags!
The Filling Station will be partnering with Vintage Berkeley for a vinyl sale and swap from 3-6pm, and they will be serving organically farmed wine - don't miss the fun!
They are also looking for volunteers to help out at the swap. From 9am to 5pm (including set up and clean up), there will be 2-hour long shifts with 2 volunteers needed each shift.

Districts 4 & 5 Listening Session: Corridors Zoning Update Thursday, April 16 | 6pm - 7:30pm
Tune in on April 16th for the next Community Listening Session on the Corridors Zoning Update in Berkeley. Councilmembers Shoshana O'Keefe and Igor Tregub are co-hosting this listening session where District 4 and 5 constituents and business owners can share their thoughts and opinions on the CZU. This event will mostly focus on the North Shattuck corridor and its merchants and businesses

Berkeley Restaurant Week April 2 - 12
Berkeley Restaurant Week is back for its 14th year, from April 2nd to 12th! This year's BRW celebrates the season of renewal with its theme "Seeds of Spring." Berkeley will burst into bloom for a 10-day tribute to flavors rooted in spring's local bounty across Berkeley's vibrant dining landscape.

Regeneration & Renewal Artist Reception Saturday, April 11 | 4:30 - 6pm Berkeley Art Center | 1275 Walnut St
Mayor Adena Ishii is hosting a public reception of Regeneration & Renewal 2026 hosted at the Berkeley Art Center, celebrating the selected local artist awardees and the beginning of something that will hopefully last well beyond this exhibition.
This event marks the start of a shared space where Berkeley artists, creatives, and culture bearers can directly connect with city officials, the civic arts, and each other. A common gathering point for the artists who make this city what it is. In partnership with our city's local art pillar Berkeley Art Center and their pilot initiative "Open Center: Artists & Community", we're opening the doors of this event to our artists, local businesses, neighbors, and anyone who believes in Berkeley's creative future, and hope you can share this event with your own communities as well.

North Berkeley Outdoor Gallery Project
The North Berkeley Outdoor Gallery Project is an initiative to showcase local creativity while bringing vibrancy and community spirit to the commercial district of North Shattuck. This outdoor gallery features thirty banners designed by thirteen East Bay-based artists.
The banners are newly displayed throughout North Berkeley, highlighting the incredible talent of the local artists and celebrating the cultural identity of the neighborhood. This project has been in the works for the last two years, and the North Shattuck Association and all the artists are thrilled that it has finally come to life, displayed for everyone to admire and enjoy.

Save Berkeley Shops is hosting a community meeting on Saturday, April 25th. This meeting will update the activities of Save Berkeley Shops over the past six months and detail the upcoming goals. The meeting will also discuss the current status of Berkeley's Corridor Up-Zoning Proposal, and Board Chair Donald Simon and other board members will be presenting.
This meeting is open to everyone: merchants, renters, homeowners, all members of the Berkeley community. This community forum encourages everyone to bring questions and input to guide the upcoming actions. |
