Say Cheese Board! Cheese Board 60th Anniversary Alumni Reunion and Tasting
Wednesday, June 10 | 6pm - 9pm
Hillside Club | 2286 Cedar St
Join us for a delicious celebration of the Cheese Board Collective’s new expansion and 60 years at the center of North Berkeley’s revolutionary California cuisine food scene. The Hillside Club welcomes a panel of store alumni from the 1960s-1990s who will tell their stories. Local historian, memoirist, and early Cheese Board member, L. John Harris, will lead the discussion with, among others, Bob Waks, Steve Sutcher, Giorgia Neidorf, Michael McGee, and Laura McNall.
Bob Klein, former TV producer and Oliveto Restaurant co-owner, will screen a short film he made about the Cheese Board for a local television broadcast in 1977, featuring interviews with collective members and the original owners of the shop, Sahag Avedisian and Elizabeth Valoma.
Following the film screening, panel discussion and Q&A, a wide variety of cheeses and breads will be served by current members of the collective, along with pizza from the Cheese Board Pizza Collective. Cheese Board member Dan Falsetto will introduce the current members and describe the cheeses being served. Wines will be paired with the cheeses.
The Cheese Board's contribution to Berkeley's food revolution, in both political and culinary terms, cannot be overstated or over celebrated. It's time to Say Cheese Board!

Save the Date (AND Participate!): Make Music Day
Sunday, June 21
Make Music Day Berkeley is a free, citywide celebration that turns Berkeley into one big stage, inviting everyone to make, share, and experience music in all its forms. Each year on June 21, we fill parks, sidewalks, plazas, shops, and unexpected corners of Downtown and beyond with live performances, participatory music-making, and joyful collaborations.
Artists of all kinds are welcome: students, amateurs, educators, DJs, choirs, music collectives, and working professionals. We also need venues and hosts, businesses, organizations, residents, and public-facing spaces that want to open their doors (or sidewalks!) to live music.
If you are an artist or a venue that is still looking to be part of this event, please email Projec...@gmail.com and our team will work to get you involved.

North Shattuck Shines Brighter
