South Cove Seawall Replacement and Dredging Study Project
South Cove Dredging AreaIn late July the City will be holding the third community meeting to discuss the material sampling results and next steps of the South Cove Dredging Study. A link to the meeting will be provided on the project page South Cove Dredging Study.
Over the past few months, the City has been engaging with the Dredged Management Material Office (DMMO) to develop disposal requirements based on sampling results and testing. We are ready to present this information and discuss the next steps of the study.
The City has also been working with permitting agencies to move a plan forward to replace the failing seawall at the South Cove Sailing Basin. While these discussions are still ongoing, the team now has a regulatory path forward.
PRW Capital Projects Team
The City of Berkeley manages Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) across the city to modernize aging facilities, improve accessibility, meet current safety standards, and support evolving community needs. Investments in park and facility improvements help strengthen recreational programming, protect neighborhood vitality, and build our shared social infrastructure.
The Department of Parks, Recreation & Waterfront (PRW) leads its own Capital Improvement Division, made up of three working groups overseeing projects throughout Berkeley and at the City’s residential camps in Tuolumne, Sonoma, and El Dorado counties. PRW projects support parks, recreation centers, pools, sports fields, public restrooms, open spaces, camps, and the Berkeley Marina and Waterfront.
