Come to the  6pm  City Council Meeting
on Thursday, November 6th
1231 Addison Street,  School Board District Room

Save Berkeley's small businesses

Regarding the Corridors Zoning Upgrade measure,
We need to FILL THE ROOM to convince Council-members that we Berkeleyans need to have a say in the matter.

The Corridors Zoning Upgrade (CZU) is the City Council's latest gift to real estate interests. This is not about "upzoning," it's about "redevelopment" in three "corridors," North Shattuck, Solano, and College Avenues.

We need to put a PAUSE on Council's
deciding between Option A and Option B.

Note that Option A and Option B were the only two choices presented in the survey.
I.e. "Do you want 6 to 8 story buildings, or 8 to 10 story buildings?"
(Both choices would destroy Berkeley's small businesses in the three "corridors.")

We need Council and City Officials to ENGAGE with us.

This is not about YIMBY or NIMBY

This is about Berkeley's shop-keepers and residents wanting a say in the matter, i.e. wanting a true democratic process.

This is about Saving Berkeley's Shops

Rushing to get this giveaway passed, City officials have:
-  not contacted local businesses
-  staged bogus input sessions in which the public was forbidden to ask questions
-  had private meetings with developers, "stakeholders,' to discuss their wants
-  lavished $600,000 on consultants
-  ignored City Council directives

The "choice" between Option A and Option B  arose from a so-called public meeting in mid-August, when the fewest possible people would attend. There was no public comment, nor any engagement with the shopkeepers and residents. There was no democratic process.

SAVE BERKELEY'S SMALL BUSINESSES.
Come to the November 6th Meeting!
Come Before 6pm!   Let's FILL the Room !

We are each allotted one minute to make a public comment. Some of us plan to donate our minute to someone who has been working on this issue for many weeks (months). Those speakers may receive 3 or 4 donated minutes.

Also tell your Council Member that they need to listen to and work on behalf of the citizens, not the donor class.
