Muzio Clementi • Symphony No. 4 in D Major

3:00pm Sunday, November 16
(2:40pm for pre-concert talk by Eric Hansen)
Valley Center for the Performing Arts
3500 Mountain Blvd., Oakland Hills

Tickets Required

If you joined us last concert, you already know the joys of plenty of free parking, lots of restrooms, cushy seats and great sightlines! If you missed the concert, now’s your chance to find out what everyone’s raving about! This season we have moved to the newly named Valley Center for Performing Arts (formerly Holy Names University hall) and there’s not a bad seat in the house.

We will offer you some rarities of the music world. First up will be a touch of Bach and a hint of Mozart in the fugal String Symphony by a very young Felix Mendelssohn. Then journey through the Emerald Isle with Ina Boyle’s Symphony No. 1, from the hills of the coast, to a windy valley, and up to a high, blue lake.

We end the concert with Symphony No. 4 by Muzio Clementi, who wrote at the same time as Mozart and outlived Beethoven. Clementi was, in fact, the most well-known piano composer of the time (no, it wasn’t  Mozart!), a household name back then, if you will. This dramatic symphony, written just before he died, just might make him a household name in your house.

Parking, Parking, Everywhere!
There’s lots of free parking surrounding Valley Center for Performing Arts. However, some areas are more easily accessible than other areas. If you’re willing and able, might you consider parking in some of the outer lots so we can save the closer spots for our audience members who have more difficulty walking? Here’s an aerial map outlining where to find oodles of parking.

 Come Early for the Pre-Talk
Come hear all about the Mozart-Clementi-Beethoven threesome and learn everything you didn’t know you wanted to know about the music we’ll be playing, from Maestro Eric Hansen. Pre-concert talk begins at 2:40pm.

Join us for Treats and Drinks
Join us for beverages and homemade treats at intermission in the lobby.

Rewards are Here!

We appreciate all donations from our wonderful audience members; we couldn’t provide music without you. Look for the Donor Rewards table in the lobby. We’ll be handing out your Donor Rewards envelopes and Prometheus swag for donations made during our 2024-2025 season.

We do keep track of your donations so we can reward you. If you donate when you reserve tickets or use our online donation link, it’s in our system. If you donate using a check, we’ll track that for you. If you’d rather donate cash while you’re at a concert, just put it in the envelope that’s in your program, note your name/email and we’ll keep track of that too! We’ve enhanced the rewards and added a new category: The Prometheus Legacy Society. You can check out the new rewards and make a donation here.

The Fine Print
