Friendly City Food Co-op is seeking a Marketing and Owner Services Team Leader with fresh ideas, collaborative communication skills, and the ability to see the big picture, as well as the details that combine to make it so.
Friendly City Food Co-op is a democratically and cooperatively owned retail grocery located in downtown Harrisonburg, Virginia. Friendly City exists so that the Shenandoah Valley has: a vibrant, local economy; fair and friendly relationships; healthy, informed consumers and producers; and a healthy environment. To this end, Friendly City actively seeks out relationships with local farmers and producers to highlight a broad selection of natural, organic, and locally-produced food and products, in addition to regional, national and international goods to fill out all the departments of our full-service store and to-go deli. Job Objectives
• Stimulate member participation, engagement and enrollment;
• Promote the benefits of community ownership and the goals of a healthy, holistic lifestyle;
• Supervise efficient and effective communications and personnel policy compliance;
• Network with other cooperatives and healthy food programs to stimulate education in member/consumer ownership and local, natural and organic foods;
• Promote goodwill and community; and
• Educate membership and community about Friendly City, its Ends* statement, price values, corporate actions and basic cooperative ideals.
Job Summary
The Marketing and Owner Services Team Leader position takes responsibility for planning, coordinating and managing Friendly City’s owner services programs, mass media and in-store marketing, communications (print, digital, web and social media), brand management program, event planning, public relations, community outreach, promotions, and customer education. This position is to provide the highest levels of customer service, and to treat employees, suppliers, shoppers and greater community with fairness and respect.

Reports to: General Manager
Status: Full-time, salaried
Location: downtown Harrisonburg, VA
Compensation: $30,000-34,000, negotiable
Start date: ASAP
