Dear Shenandoah Valley Food and Farm Network colleagues,

Hope you are doing well. We wanted to let you know that we are postponing and rescheduling this Thursday’s SV Food and Farm Network meeting because of some schedule conflicts. The next meeting will be Friday, March 9, in Harrisonburg.

The March 9 meeting if all goes as planned would be devoted to a presentation by Mark and Suzy Lilly of Farm to Family. We are also discussing the possibility of a more in-depth fee-based training session after the meeting for those serious interested in this business and social enterprise model.

Some other notes and news

There is still some room for the David Kline event. http://filebox.vt.edu/users/ebendfel/Fliers/DavidKline.pdf

The folks from Pilot Mountain Pride and Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project are willing to meet with us for a tour and discussion on Wednesday, March 7 and Thursday, March 8. Please let us know if you would be interested in participating in this trip and tour. It would mean leaving Harrisonburg early Wednesday morning, spending the night in NC and traveling back from Asheville after our meeting with Charlie and Emily Jackson and the ASAP folks on Thursday. Since we would pass the Southwest Virginia Farmers Market on the way to Pilot Mountain Pride, we are checking into the possibility of a short tour there on the way down.

Additionally, we are planning a series of workshops with Scott Sheely of the Lancaster County Workforce Investment Board and Lancaster Prospers for March 27 – 29. The theme of the workshops will be on regional strategic competitiveness and optimizing comparative advantages.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience the rescheduling may cause.

Best regards,

Eric
