Does Locatik detect your location on non-GPS Phones using the Cell-ID
information?

I read that it does, but i tested it and it semms it doesn't.

Yes, it does use cellid information to locate phones. Let me explain
how this happens:

There is a user-generated database of CellIds on our server. This
database is frequently updated by users with GPS devices.
Whenever they are using Locatik with their GPS on, the co-ordinates of
their whereabouts are matched with the cellid they are currently in.

That way if a non-GPS device appears in a cell where a GPS enabled
device has appeared previously we will be roughly able to tell where
that person is.
Hence if you are using Locatik in an area that no GPS devices have
been previously, and rely only on CellId localisation, we will
unfortunately not be able to tell your position.

This situation will however be improving with time as the database is
being built up.
