I've installed the latest localtunnel from Github, and the install seemed to go fine. Yet when I attempt to run localtunnel with

  localtunnel-beta -n stitch-maps 8080

I get no response. localtunnel-beta doesn't return any error or status messages. And attempting to visit stitch-maps.localtunnel.com results in a "Not found" message, which says to me that the client isn't working at all.

Suggestions, anyone? I'm running Python 2.6 on Mac OS X 10.5.8, if that makes any difference.

Update: localtunnel-beta does nothing for a few minutes, then bombs out with this message:

  ERROR: Unexpected server reply.
Make sure you have the latest version of the client.

Anyone know what it means?

Update: I have the same problem on both Mac OS X 10.5.8 and 10.7.5.

Update: Since all attempts to use https://github.com/progrium/localtunnel failed, I switched to https://github.com/shtylman/localtunnel. This succeeded, in the sense that I could tunnel to the development server running on local machine, but localtunnel.me was far too slow and painful to use. So I've switched to forwardhq.com, and it's working beautifully. Hope this helps someone else!

I appreciate you being so communicative on all this. It helps push me to spend some time on fixing localtunnel.

Are there fixes planned for the near future?

Thanks!

What's the problem? We're happily using localtunnel-beta with our own
tunnel server. If you use a SPOT instance on AWS it costs a few
dollars per month.

Ditto. Python 2.7 and Mac OS X 10.7.5. Just hangs w/o feedback until "Error: Unable to connect to service."

Created an account on forwardhq.com per your reference, and it works well. Thank you for sharing that.

I've been using localtunnel (with localhost) for a few days, and everything worked fine... But yesterday, when I did "lt --port 8888" (My Appache port), I got the following errors :

Error: localtunnel server returned an error, please try again

    at Request._callback (/usr/local/lib/node_modules/localtunnel/client.js:205:27)

    at Request.self.callback (/usr/local/lib/node_modules/localtunnel/node_modules/request/main.js:122:22)

    at Request.EventEmitter.emit (events.js:98:17)

    at Request.<anonymous> (/usr/local/lib/node_modules/localtunnel/node_modules/request/main.js:655:16)

    at Request.EventEmitter.emit (events.js:117:20)

    at IncomingMessage.<anonymous> (/usr/local/lib/node_modules/localtunnel/node_modules/request/main.js:617:14)

    at IncomingMessage.EventEmitter.emit (events.js:117:20)

    at _stream_readable.js:919:16

    at process._tickCallback (node.js:419:13)

I turned off my Mac and restarted, and things were fine until this morning when I tried the localtunnel again... and got the same error. This time, rebooting did not help...

Please help...
