Aloha, Cathy…hoping that the week’s work with Al and Bob went well…please let us know as soon as you can how we did…
Kawika Marquez of Big Island Resource Conservation & Development Council (Mobile Meat Harvesting Unit - MMHU) has asked the SBDC to support a workshop and expo in Hilo on August 24th…it will be held at the old County offices on Aupuni…the event is sponsored by County of Hawai’i R & D, Big Island RC&D and EnSave…here is a summary of what EnSave does:
EnSave has been providing agricultural energy efficiency, farm audits, consulting, training, and education services in the United States for over twenty years. We help our agricultural clients achieve their farm energy efficiency goals while also helping to save energy and reduce their environmental impact. Inspired by America's hard working farmers, EnSave strives to provide energy saving solutions that strengthen farms and agricultural producers and organizations, and offer long-term viability. We help American agriculture become more sustainable and profitable through energy efficiency and resource conservation.
There is no charge for the booth space or the workshop, just a registration form…the workshop on the 24th is the kick-off event for training on farm energy audits, etc.
Kawika is inviting farmers and ranchers island-wide, especially from the underserved areas.
This is a good chance for outreach and to support a county initiative as well…I will also be meeting with a member of the National RC&D team and another woman from Guam who is interested in our efforts to bring an MMHU to our island…happy to include Constance or Aaron as well…
