Hey Everyone,
You're getting this email because you have, at one
point or another, been involved in the Wigg Party Local Food group. I've
been lagging as the leader of this group, but we've got a big event
coming up so it's important that we get organized.
The first thing is that I'd like everyone to join the
Wigg
Party Local Food Google Group. It would really help out our
communication if we could use this group to stay organized.
Secondly, we've got a
Wigg Party Local Food Picnic in the Panhandle
coming up on May 9th from 1-4 pm. I've already got the permit secured
for this so we need to get on with the planning and promotion. If you
can click on the link to the facebook event page above and send it
around to your friends we will be well on our way to promotion!
With regards to planning, I'd like to call a meeting for this
Thursday at 7:30 pm at the Sunshine Castle. I would ideally like to do a
doodle poll to find out when the most people are available, but we
really don't have many options at this point with the event coming up so
fast. We're going to be talking:
- Who's making food?
- Logistics
- Grill/Solar
Cooker
- Tables
- Dish Washing
- PA system
- Set
up/Take down
- Promotional materials
- Entertainment
- Strategic Partnerships
Finally, I've been trying to get
our group connected with a really awesome backyard garden at 1955
McAllister between Lyon and Central called
Finny's Farm. I was
over there a month or two ago helping with some sheeting, and they've
recently finished off the mulching part. They've now moved onto planting
and they are establishing a regular working day every Tuesday from 1-5
pm. I would very much like it if the Wigg Party had a strong and
consistent presence at this garden, and I know (because multiple people
from the project have said as much) that they would love to have us
there as well. So let's make it happen. Anybody down for a May 4th visit
to the Farm?
That's it for now. Please join the Google Group, and I really hope
that you can make the meeting on Thursday at such short notice. See you
soon!
Eat well,
Morgan
