Coordination for the Glean

Hey everyone,

You guys have all expressed an interest in gleaning this weekend. You are awesome. I'm trying to coordinate exactly who we'll have at which times this weekend, as well as figuring out vehicles.

We need people for 1 and 2 pm on Saturday and people at 1, 2, and 430/5 on Sunday. I am available for all runs. I believe we'll have access to the truck at HVF, but I cannot drive stick so we'll need at least one other person to come along (Jay please chime in if we can't use the truck until the last run on Sunday).

So basically I'm trying to nail people down to specific times. The most important ones are Saturday at 2 and Sunday at 5. If we can make a good showing at the Ferry Plaza and Civic Center respectively, we'll have lots of food.

Finally, the one thing we could use besides vehicles is boxes. Cardboard, plastic, bags, whatever. If it can carry food we'll take it.

What specifically are the responsibilities of signing up for these shifts?  I’m interested in helping out, but I’m not entirely sure of what the commitment is.

Hey Morgan,

 

I'm available for all the shifts on Sunday and would love to glean. I don't have a driver's licence though so I won't be able to drive. I can ride my bike whereever and help talk to people/ box up the food. Let me know if that would work. I also have 5 cardboard boxes that would be a good size for produce. Helping out with the glean would basically entail talking to farmers to see if they would like to donate anything, carrying any boxes we collect to our vehicles, and transporting the food back to HVF. There will probably be a little sorting of the food back at the Farm to take out stuff that's too busted up and should go into the compost.

Not much to it other than that. We could still use some help for Saturday in particular. Let me know if you are interested. (419) 351-0466
