0.9: kill downloaders on interruption

This change was tricky and isn't glamorous but is important.
Now when the user hits control-c to stop update-all, all of the
wget downloaders are killed.

Version 0.9 also reduces the times of the applescript delays
introduced in the last release, as they were making the Mac
less responsive.
