Here's info from Swetha on our fundraising event for this weekend. Next weekend we'll be at SF Obama Headquarters all together on Sunday but you can help out any day from 10am-8pm at 939 Market St @6th St.! Just drop in!

Hello friends and fellow Lefties!
As you know, the Local Lefties have been pretty busy getting ready for this year's November election (can't believe it's less than 3 wks away!). While a lot of the bake sales, phonathans, and other Local Lefties efforts have been for Obama, this email is to ask support for something else, slightly more personal. My job.
I work at Mission Housing Development Corporation, a non-profit developer of housing that's affordable, and we are having our FIRST Fundraiser in five years! The organization has been around for 37 years and provides family housing, senior housing, and SRO's (single room occupancies). Because of our projects, there are thousands of units of below market rate housing that meet the needs of low and moderate income folks who would otherwise have fewer options to quality housing. We also have received award winning designs for several of our buildings - our properties are beautiful and change the perception of what affordable housing looks like. My favorite thing about our organization is our Resident Services Department that works with our tenants to help them achieve their goals and in many instances achieve more economic freedom so they can afford market rate housing and homeownership. I have been pretty busy at work helping plan for this Fundraiser and raise money. While it would be great to get a check from someone for $25K, w/the way the economy's going, it's important for us to diversify our fundraising efforts and get support in as many different ways as we can. With that said, my little part in our Fundraiser is raising money through grassroots efforts, and extending a plea of help to volunteer with the bake sale!
If YOU would like to help out and join me (and I could REALLY use the help!), this is what I could us a hand with:
1) Roll up your sleeves, get out those hot pads and bake up o'storm!
2) Come visit us & throw your money at us at the Bake Sale (we never say no to mulah!)
3) Volunteer at the bake sale. We're sure your beautiful faces will stop traffic and bring in more support
4) Get those creative juices flowing and help with poster boards and visuals
5) Any and/or all of the above = )
*And a little FYI - all the money we raise goes directly to the cause we support, yeah, ALL of it. We do not use any of the sales to cover our overhead. Everything from signage to cookies are donations from good hearted folks and volunteers.*

Time: 11am to 2pm

On 24th Street between Sanchez Street and Noe Street, across from Bell
Market. We park ourselves in front of the old Real Foods.
