Hello local lefties,
Not only do I bake awesome rice krispie treats and hand out some expertly counted change at most local lefties bake sales, I also teach at an amazing school here in San Francisco, Leadership High School. This year, my advisees, who I'm been supporting, counseling, celebrating and pushing for the last four years, are about to graduate! Our whole senior class is an amazing group. Numbers-wise, they are a remarkable success - 95% people of color, about 70% will be the first in their families to go to college, 55% live at or below the poverty line. These are the kids who weren't expected to graduate high school, and now they're moving on to higher education.
Just like most of us did, they want to celebrate their graduation with a Senior Trip.
Unfortunately, they are mostly poor kids at an urban public school, so funding is always a struggle. But they want to make sure everyone in the senior class is included as we celebrate this wonderful accomplishment. So we are putting on a bake sale, local lefties style! They're all coming over to my house to bake up a storm the day before (should be crazy!) but we'd love any donations of yummy goods from all of you. And, of course, we'd also appreciate you stopping by and supporting us on Saturday.
