With apologies for duplicate postings and the short notice, the IL Organic Growers Association is please to announce the details of our September 1 field day on Involving Institutions in Local Food Systems: Conversations with Producers, Student Farms, and Buyers.
Please note that if you wish to eat the organic box lunch that will be served at the field day, you must
pre-register by August 25. Lunch is free for students, $12 for non-students. If you wish to bring your own lunch or eat later at the IL Student Farm Open House, you may pre-register by August 30.
Location: University of Illinois Student Farm, Urbana
Date: Thursday, September 1, 2011
Time: 11:00AM to 4:00PM
At the field day, private producers, university student farm staff, and university buyers will share ideas about how to involve institutions in local food networks. The focus will be on universities, but the lessons can be applied to other large institutions, such as schools and hospitals.
Presenters and panel discussions will start at 11:00 and include:
Activities will conclude with a tour of the University of Illinois Student Farm at 3:00. After the student farm tour, attendees may stay as long as they wish and network with UI students during the annual UI Student Farm Open House, which runs from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.
