Thanks to Justin for hosting last night. Between the buffalo chicken dip, the meat and cheese tray, and all of the beers, I don't know how anyone could have had a bad time. Our attempt at a Best Damn Beer brewdown was half-ass, at best, but we did have a winner. On to your recap...

  • Treasurer's Report - Cool Justin walked us through the club finances. Two recent expenses were the August meeting food and the Nebraska Shootout entry fees
  • Comps and Festivals
    • Nebraska Shootout - Tom provided a sneak peek at next year's categories. Pale Ale, Sour, and Historical are three of the categories
    • Beer Festivals - We provided a recap of Brew HaHa and encouraged everyone to sign up to serve at a future festival. They're a lot of fun, and festival attendees always love our beer.
  • Club Brewday - 10/26 is looking like the best date. Cool Justin was going to confirm that with his schedule. The porter will be a Deschutes Black Butte Porter clone
  • Fall Social - Benson...B5/Benson Brewing/beer bars. Date TBD
  • October Meeting - El Presidente is our penciled-in host. Tom is a backup.
  • Member swag - We discussed options for this year's member gift. The BoD will discuss some options.
  • Brewdowns:
    • Best Damn Beer: We were kind of lazy on the vote tallying for this one. Cool Justin's Oktoberfest was the winner.
    • October Reminder: Fall beers
  • Off-flavor kit - the club purchased a 12-flavor kit. We decided to start working through them, two at a time, next month.
  • Oktoberfest season - Between Kros Strain, Monolithic, Lucky Bucket, and the German American Society, there will be lots of opportunities to drink together the next couple of weekends. Be on the lookout for club members if you're out.
  • Influencers in the Wild - I think it is important to recognize members who contribute to our favorite hobby. A few weeks ago, Mitchel was on the Basic Brewing Radio podcast (I mistakenly called it another podcast last night. I'm dumb) for one of their Hop Sampler episodes. He did a great job with James and the crew. Give it a listen here
I think that covers last night's meeting. As always, keep those fermenters full!

Cheers,
JG
