Not So....The first time i encountered an ATX case I thought the power
supply was stuffed because i couldn't turn the thing on. I wasn't
aware that the on switch had to be connected to the motherboard.
JT(The other one)
Anyway, worth a try. Nobodies interested?

However, when it comes to troubleshooting, software and hardware, thats a
different matter, and usually those that call themselves 'techies' are just
installers (nothing applying to you, just what I've found of instore techies
in general)... this kidn of thing requires logical thinking, and a more than
general grasp of how computer components interact...
But, I'm straying off topic... I personally wouldn't pay $45 to get a
computer assembled, and wouldn't pay to get software installed, either :
a) I'm buying it new, let them do it, I'll fix it all when i get it...
b) I'm buying parts, so therefore I probably got a good knowledge of
computers, what the hell I'll do it all myself with some help off the net ..

Just wondering Rob how long it takes you to assemble the average box?
JT

Assembly?
All you need to do is take them out of the cardboard, and blow them up.
That hardly counts as assembly.

The new KX Aopen cases are very nice.

I made the mistake of using 20 of the mid's ina bulk installation. 11
out of the 20 had to be sent back because the Metal plates that the
expansion card go into hadn't been cut out properly.
The other 9 gave me multiple lacerations getting the damn metal bits
out.
After that they worked quite nicely, and they're good enough cases.
Just very bad for the intergrator :)

the KX aopens are quite good. i wasnt to impressed with the fancy shape at
the front though since when you install the cdrom drive(s) then they dont
appear flush with the front of the case.
I prefered the LX45 :)

I stood there for half an hour on the first one trying to work out if
the CDROM drive was in too far or too shallow :)
But it appears to be the latest 'style' in cases.

Yeah but Zac,
<sarcastic mode on>
Anyone with half a brain in their head can put together a computer
<sarcastic mode off>
To all those people who have been negative toward Rob's Idea
It's little things like hard to fit parts/tight fitting parts, not
having a convenient workspace and/or a toolkit and dealing with
hassles like a cable not plugged in properly so machine won't boot
that make the idea of paying a person $45.00 worthwhile.
JT
>hassles like a cable not plugged in properly so machine won't boot

$45 is really quite cheap :) However, I don't think Rob quite realises
what he'd be in for if items suddenly stopped working/any computer
problems/windows crashes. THAT'S the fun part, having customers
ringing you on a Sunday asking why their mouse has stopped working(and
driving there on a Sunday afternoon to plug the silly thing back in )
However, if you're buying a new computer from custom parts and the
company won't assemble them for you then I suggest you look elsewhere.
The are plenty of more customer-orientated places around that would.
By the way is there anywhere that sells those LX45 cases any more? i
prefered them. dont like all the new cases with the "modern" curvey looks to
them.

I have learnt the hard way the problems selling computers to people
you know..... the worst are the "kind of know them but arent good
friends people". These are the people who expect a good deal, which,
because you know them, you dont mind giving them a decent deal. BUT
once you have finished, they ring you/come around/email/mail/telegram
etc every week with some problem. Normally this is along the lines of
"My soundcard doesnt work, the computer is broken again", so you go
around there or they bring it to you and find out that the dumb
bastards have deleted thier soundcard drivers (they deny this of
course, no matter what the problem is they deny it).
Anyway, the problem is that..... you dont actually give much of f***
about these people's problems, BUT because you "kind of know them"
they expect you to be at thier call 24 hrs of day.
With people who you know well, you dont mind helping them with lots of
little things, and visiting them to show them how to do stuff etc,
because they are your mates.
