HAPPY SPRING!

Spring has sprung and Local Sprouts is cooking up some awesome
volunteer opportunities! Here are some upcoming events we'll need help

UPCOMING EVENTS

FRIDAY, MARCH 27TH- Portland Company 58 Fore St, Portland
ILAP's CeleSoiree
CeleSoirée is a celebration of Maine's immigrant communities and the
valuable contributions they make to the economic, political and
cultural life of Maine. ILAP is dedicated to improving the lives of
Maine's immigrants by providing expert legal assistance and advocacy.
Proceeds raised will support ILAP's direct legal services program,
education and outreach program, and impact project. Tickets are $25 in
advance and $30 at the door. The event starts at 5pm at the Portland
Company 58 Fore St, Portland.

Local Sprouts will be coordinating the food for this event. We are
looking for volunteers for the whole day. The shifts are below:

12-3-moving gear and food prep
3-6- food prep and space set up
6-9- serving and clean up
Home Stretch Heroes- folks available to volunteer until everything
done



April 18-20 Turner Grange Hall Route 117, Turner Center, ME
10th Annual Maine Youth Activism Gathering(YAG)

Since 2000 Maine youth have been converging annually for a three day
celebration of political action, fierce youth brilliance and
do-it-yourself fun. The Youth Activism Gathering (YAG) is an event
organized for and by teens and young adults with support and
suggestions from a few choice older activists. For information contact

Local Sprouts will be working with YAG coordinators and
Resources for Social Change to provide food for this event. We are
looking for food donations and volunteer cooks! This event provides 7
meals for 50-70 people. If you can come up we'd love to see you.


Saturday, April 25th-Guild Hall 317 Congress St-Portland
2009 Peace Action Maine Peace Supper

Peace Action Maine is a voice of education and a center for all people
committed to disarmament and creative responses to conflict. Come and
support Maine's largest peace organization!

Local Sprouts will be cooking the food for this event and we will need
help the day of setting up, cooking, serving and cleaning up. More
details soon.


Thursday, May 7th USM Abromson Center-Portland
Maine Business' For Social Responsibility
MEBSR Conference



This year’s conference will examine how socially responsible business
practices can provide
opportunities for prosperity even in an uncertain and challenging
economic climate.
Conference sessions are designed to be pragmatic, giving attendees
concrete and practical information.



Local Sprouts will be providing breakfast and lunch for this event and
we are looking for servers and prep cooks.

Community Potluck Dinners at Portland West




Local Sprouts is partnering with Portland West to host
monthly Community Potluck Dinners. We are looking for volunteers


to do outreach, help with cooking and clean up.

Every Wednesday- Portland Public Market House 28 Monument Sq-Portland
Local Sprouts Community Supported Kitchen


Local Sprouts cooks every Wednesday for our Community Supported
Kitchen members.

If you enjoy cooking and want to learn about cooking with local foods
please volunteer in the kitchen. Cooking starts at 10am every
Wednesday.
