Local Sprouts Cafe Community Design Day- 9/21

Hello Local Sprouts Community,

We are so excited to create the Local Sprouts Cafe.  We have had so many people express interest in supporting the cafe and helping out with the design and renovation of our new space at 645 Congress St.  We want to get you involved from the ground up and invite you to our Cafe Community Design Day on Monday September 21st at 5pm-9pm. 

The Local Sprouts Cafe will open this winter and provide a local foods menu in a comfortable family friendly and community environment.  We will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and will have performances, classes, music and events at night.  It will be a place for the community to connect and celebrate with delicious local food and drinks.  It will be Portland's first Community Supported Cafe as people will be invited to become members of the cafe and to support the cafe through money and/or labor and in return will get credit to purchase local foods.  The cafe will also be open to the general public and will reach out to the local neighborhoods. 

On September 21st at 5pm we will walk-through the cafe space at 645 Congress St. (make sure to wear shoes and clothes that are suitable for an active worksite).  After the walk-through we will go over our ideas for the cafe and some of our design consideration and elements.  Then we will eat food together and digest all that information (and food). 

After dinner, we'll get to work and put our brains, creativity, visioning, experience and skills together to create a dynamic and vibrant community cafe.   We are inviting builders, architects, designers, artists, community members and cooks to this night and through this synthesis we will create a design that meets our needs and the needs of the community.  We also want to make this renovation as green as possible, using many re-used materials in the process. '
